 Hello everyone,

 By now- all of you have adjusted to grade 8 and I am sure you are very busy!

I hope that you find the time to continue to support our community service learning projects at school. Watch the announcements and PARTICIPATE!

 We are hoping to give our $15,200.00 donation to Greg Mortenson to build a school in Pakistan or Afghanistan--------directly. Since Holy Cross needs every seat for their students on 9/30/09- we may have to wait till his next visit to Massachusetts in a few months. Our final $200.00 came from Brimfield Elementary- making this huge fund raiser- a district event! We will let you know of any developments. I hope you had the opportunity to view some of Generation Islam on CNN. Greg Mortenson was featured. Check schedules since it will be broadcast again. If you have not read Three Cups of Tea yet -please do! Mrs. LaMothe has copies available- the original version, Young Readers version and on CD. Greg Mortenson's latest book will be released in a few months!

So- I hope that you are enjoying grade 8 but that you continue to follow the news and work towards making the world a better place by helping those less fortunate. I know that many of you did just that this past summer by participating in church fund raisers, nature camps, and so on!

On another note- I received a postcard from our UN tour guide from Uzbekistan- she complimented us on our visit and looks forward to seeing us again-------so if you venture to NY with your family- you should stop by the UN! I have her name if you are interested!
