Visual Arts is a special discipline, a body of knowledge that is part of a basic education. Art education includes instruction in three domains: creative art statement, aesthetic assessment, and art heritage. Visual Arts education is essential to the quality of our nation's culture and is necessary in developing art literate people.

CREATIVE ART STATEMENT is the practical application of artistic knowledge that enables students to express themselves in visually creative ways.

AESTHETIC ASSESSMENT is the ability to describe, interpret, and evaluate works of art created by oneself and others, and to communicate one's perceptions verbally and in writing.

ART HERITAGE is the study and appreciation of art and artists within the context of the past and present cultures.
