Welcome students and parents of 6C3

Homework is subject to change; please check daily!

*************************************************

Students & Parents: We have finished doing Rocket Math during class.  However, many students still need practice with single digit multiplication and division. Students need to know these facts without counting on fingers.  They can use flashcards, internet games, or I will be happy to send home the Rocket Math packet for either multiplicaton or division, but they will need a partner to help at home.  It only takes 3 minutes a day, but research shows that they need the practice daily.

***********************************************

Mon., 4/5/10:  Division with mixed numbers, page 74 & 75

Tues., 4/6/10: Word Problems 1-7

Wed., 4/7/10: Study for Unit test.  The unit test includes everything we've done this term and counts as 40% of the term grade.  Students needs to know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions.  They must be able to read a word problem and figure out which operation to use and solve it correctly.  They must be able to compare and order fractions, and simplify all fractions to their lowest terms.  Vocabulary is important to know.

Thurs., 4/8/10: No homework- finishing test on Friday, if students aren't done with it.

Fri., 4/9/10: none unless you owe work.  Term ends on 4/14/10.  All Missing or late work is due by Monday, 4/12/10.

Wed. 3/31/10: Mixed Review # 2

Thurs., 4/1/10: None- No school tomorrow.  We will practice dividing fractions early in the week and have our End of Unit Assessment end of next week, which counts for 40% of their grade for the term.  The quiz includes adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions using skill and word problems.  Students need to be able to order and compare fractions too.   They need to know how to simplify fractions as well.

Fri., 4/2/10:

****************************************************

We have started studying 3-dimensional shapes- their attributes and naming them.  Students need to know how to find the number of faces, base shape, number of vertices, and the number of edges.  They need to be able to look at the shape and identify it too.  This week we will work on volume of rectangular prisms and then move onto similarity and finding missing side lengths of similar shapes.
