WEEK 1 (8/27-8/29) - INTRODUCTIONS

ALL CLASSES: Review Science Department Classroom Management Standards handout; Return "Welcome To Your JHS Science Class" handout with your signature and Parent/Guardian signature; if issued, cover your textbook.

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review notes on cells and read Chapter 4 (Structure and Function of the Cell) of your textbook (pages 69-88).

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Read Section 1.1; list and define the 5 vocabulary words and complete Section 1.1 Assessment Questions 1-6 (on page 7) IN YOUR NOTEBOOKS  for Tuesday.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Read Sections 1.1 and 1.2 in your textbooks; complete Exercise 1 (Module 1.1) worksheet for Tuesday.

PLAN AHEAD:  ALL Biology students will be required to submit a Science Fair Project this year.  Even though the Science Fair is held around the 1st week in February, it is never too early to start thinking about topics and to start researching what you might want to do for your project. 

WEEK 2 (9/02-9/05) - All textbooks should be covered!

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review Section 4-1 and complete Questions 1-6 (on page 72) in your notebooks for Wednesday; completed cell drawings (including coloring and labels) with their attached rubrics are due Friday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Review your notes; complete Section 1.1 worksheet and hand-in; read Section 1.2 and complete review Questions 1-5 on page 15 in your notebooks for Monday.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Review your notes on Sections 1.1 and 1.2; complete Exercise 2 (Module 1.2) crossword worksheet for Wednesday; read Section 1.3.

WEEK 3 (9/08-9/12) - Primary Day, no school Tuesday

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review Section 4-2 and complete Questions 1-6 (on page 83) in your notebooks for Wednesday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Review your notes and your completed assignments; return signed lab contracts; complete and hand-in Section 1.2 Worksheet on Friday.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Review your notes and completed assignments; read/review Sections 1.4 & 1.5; complete and hand-in Section 1.5 Worksheet on Friday.

WEEK 4 (9/15-9/19) - Review your notes and assignments!

GENETICS (Period 2) - Study for Cell Review Quiz on Monday; Read Section 8-1 and complete Questions 1-6 (Page 147) in your notebooks for Wednesday; complete and hand-in Chromosome worksheet on Thursday; and complete Questions 1-6 (Page 151) in your notebooks for Friday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Complete and hand-in Section 1.3 Worksheet; answer Questions 1-6 on Page 22 (in your notebooks); answer Analyzing Data Questions 1-5 on Page 27 and Review Questions 1-5 on Page 28 (in your notebooks); Section 1.4 Worksheet is due Monday; also start working on your Chapter 1 Study Guide and start reviewing and studying for Chapter 1 test next week.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Active Reading Assignment on autotrophs and heterotrophs is due Monday; study for Quiz on Sections 1.1 through 1.4 on Thursday; complete and hand-in Section 1.6 Worksheet on Monday.

WEEK 5 (9/22-9/26) - First Week of Autumn AND Progress Reports

GENETICS (Period 2) - Read and review Chapter 8; Mitosis plates are due Friday; take-home quiz is due next Monday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Review your notes and assignments, and complete your Chapter 1 Study Guides; you should be studying for your Chapter 1 test/quest on either Thursday (Periods 3 & 7) or Friday (Period 4).

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Complete and hand-in Section 1.7 Worksheet on Scientific Method on Tuesday; review notes and assignments for next Monday's Chapter Test.

WEEK 6 (9/29-10/03)

GENETICS (Period 2) - Read and review Chapter 8; take-home quiz was due on Monday; review questions 1-6 on page 156 are due on Tuesday; Chapter 8 Test on cell cycle, mitosis, and meiosis is on FRIDAY.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Read section 2.1 and complete the 11 vocabulary words and Review Questions 1-6 (page 39) in your notebooks; and complete and hand-in the Section 2.1 Worksheet.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Chapter 1 test on Monday; read Sections 2.1 -2.4; complete and hand-in 3 worksheets: Chapter 2 Introduction, Sections 2.1-2.3, and Parts of an Atom.

WEEK 7 (10/06-10/10)  NECAP TESTING for Juniors on Tuesday & Wednesday

GENETICS (Period 2) - Read and review Chapter 9, complete fill-in notes for Section 9.1; complete and hand-in worksheet on Mendel's experiments.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Review Section 2.2 (including vocabulary) and complete Questions 1-5 on page 43 in your notebooks; complete and hand-in the Section 2.2 Worksheet; read Section 2.3 and complete the 12 vocabulary words and Questions 1-5 on page 48 in your notebooks (due next week); review notes and assignments on Sections 2.1 and 2.2 for a take-home quiz next week.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Review Sections 2.1-2.6, and complete and hand-in the worksheets on Bohr Models and Structure of Atoms; worksheet on Ionic and Covalent Bonds is due on Tuesday; review notes and assignments on Chapter 2 (up to and including Section 2.8) for next week's Quiz.

WEEK 8 (10/14-10/17)  PSAT's Wednesday & NECAP MATH TESTING on Thursday and Friday

GENETICS (Period 2) - Read Section 9.2 and complete and hand-in worksheets; other packette of worksheets on Mendel's work is due next Tuesday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) -  Review Section 2.3 and make sure you have defined the 12 vocabulary words listed on page 44  and answered Questions 1-5 on page 48 in your notebooks (assigned last week); review notes and assignments on Sections 2.1 and 2.2 and complete and hand-in take-home quiz on those sections; the worksheet on Carbohydrates is due on Monday and the Section 2.3 Review Worksheet is due Tuesday (both due on Tuesday for Level 7).

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Review Sections 2.0-2.8 for Wednesday's Quiz; Read and review Sections 2.9 & 2.10.
