WEEK 1 (9/2-9/4) - INTRODUCTIONS

ALL CLASSES: Review Science Department Classroom Management Standards handouts; Return "Welcome To Your JHS Science Class" handout and Lab Safety Contract handout with your signature and Parent/Guardian signature; and please cover your textbooks.

GENETICS (Period 2) - Start thinking about cells and organelles; you will get your books on Tuesday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - start reading Chapter 1.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - start reading the first few sections of Chapter 1.

PLAN AHEAD:  ALL Biology students will be required to submit a Science Fair Project this year.  Even though the Science Fair is held around the 1st week in February, it is never too early to start thinking about topics and to start researching what you might want to do for your project. Remember that a good project can be used for your Senior Portfolio.

WEEK 2 (9/8-9/11) - THE REAL LEARNING STARTS

ALL CLASSES: make sure your textbooks are covered and all handouts have been returned. 

GENETICS (Period 2) - Read Chapter 4; complete and hand-in your labeled cell drawings; complete concept map on cells and organelles; for Monday - answer Q's 1-6 on Page 72 (Sect. 4.1) and Q's 1-6 on Page 83 (Sect. 4.2) in your notebooks.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - Read Sections 1.1 and 1.2; define the 5 vocabulary words (listed on Page 3) in your notebooks and answer Questions 1-6 (on Page 7) in your notebooks, also complete and hand-in the Section 1.1 Worksheet; Period 7 only - define vocabulary words for Section 1.2 (listed on Page 8) and complete Q's 1-5 on Page 15 for Tuesday.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Read Sections 1.1-1.4, complete and hand-in worksheets 1.1 and 1.2; complete vocabulary words (20) for the Intro. and for Sections 1.1-1.4 in your notebooks; review for Quiz next week.

ALL CLASSES: make sure you review your assignments and notes for your quizes this week.  PS - Try the Quizlet link below and let me know if it helps.

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review Chapter 4 material and study your labeled cell drawings; since there is an assembly on Thursday, your Quiz on Chapter 4 will be on Friday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - Review Section 1.2 and define the 5 vocabulary words (listed on Page 8) in your notebooks and answer Questions 1-5 (on Page 15) in your notebooks; start working on your Chapter 1 Study Guides; the Section 1.1 Quiz is on Thursday for Periods 4 & 7, and on Friday for Period 3; Section 1.2 worksheets are due Friday for Period 7 and on Monday for Periods 3 and 4.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Read Sections 1.5 and 1.6, complete and hand-in Worksheets 1.6 on Wednesday; you can start defining the vocabulary for Sections 1.5 and 1.6 in your notebooks; review materials and study your notes for Thurday's Quiz on Sections 1.1-1.4.

WEEK 4 (9/21-9/25) - BACK TO THE BOOKS

GENETICS (Period 2) - Read Chapter 8; complete Questions 1-6 on Page 147 and Questions 1-6 on Page 151 for Tuesday; Worksheets on the Cell Cycle and Mitosis are due Thursday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - Read Section 1.3 and define the 8 vocabulary words (listed on Page 16) in your notebooks and answer Questions 1-6 (on Page 22) in your notebooks - due Tuesday; Section 1.3 Review Worksheet is due Wednesday; the Active Reading: Scientific Process worksheet is due on Thursday; for Monday - review Section 1.4 and define the 6 vocabulary words for the section and answer Questions 1-6 on Page 28 in your notebooks; REMINDER: Quiz on Sections 1.2 and 1.3 next Tuesday or Wednesday!

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Read Sections 1.7 and 1.8, complete and hand-in Worksheet 1.7 on Wednesday; complete the vocabulary for the rest of Chapter 1 in your notebooks for Thurday; the Analyzing Experimental Design Data Lab is due Friday; also study for next week's Chapter 1 Test.

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review Chapter 8; complete Section 8-3 Review Questions 1-6 on Page 156 for Wednesday; Mitosis Labs are due Friday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - Review Sections 1.2 and 1.3 for Quiz on Tuesday or Wednesday; finish Chapter 1 Study Guides for review for Chapter Test, complete and hand-in Section 1.4 Review Worksheet and Microscope Diagram.

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Review notes and materials for Chapter 1 Test on Tuesday; read and review Introduction to Chapter 2; Exercise 1 for Chapter 2 is due on Monday.

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review Chapter 9; try to complete the Punnett Square for the tri-hybrid cross; complete Section 9.2 Review Questions 1-6 in your notebooks.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - Sections 2.1 and 2.2 of your Chapter 2 Study Guides should be completed; study for your Section 2.1 and 2.2 Quiz on Wednesday (Thursday for Period 3); start reading Section 2.3 and define the 12 vocabulary words in your notebooks; also complete Questions 1-5 on page 48 in your notebooks (due Monday for Periods 3 & 7, Tuesday for Period 4).

BIOLOGY HONORS (Period 6) - Review Sections 2.8 - 2.11; Exercise 9 handout (vocabualry crossword) is due on Wednesday; worksheet on pH is due on Thursday, and vocab words for Sections 2.10 - 2.17 are due Friday.

WEEK 10 (11/02-11/06) - FIRST QUARTER ENDS FRIDAY!

GENETICS (Period 2) - Review Section 9.2; complete and hand-in worksheets on bloodtypes; take-home quiz is due Friday; Baby Lab is due next Wednesday.

BIOLOGY CP (Periods 3, 4, & 7) - Review Section 2.3 and complete Section 2.3 of your Study Guides;  Questions 1-5 on page 48 are due Monday for Periods 3 & 7 and on Tuesday for Period 4; the worksheet on Carbs and the Section Review Worksheet 2.3 are also due this week; start reading Section 2.4 and define the 7 vocabulary words in your notebooks.
