"Mommy! Mommy!" shouted Gabriel as he ran in after school, "my teacher loves me!"
"How do you know that?" asked his mother.
"She sent me kisses," he replied. "Just look at all these X's all over my spelling paper."

The Sixty-Second MotivatorOkay, this isn't really an education book per se, but if there's any profession that faces motivation challenges, it's teaching: Teachers have to motivate students to learn, to behave, and maybe even to grow up a little bit. They also have to motivate administrators to learn, to behave, and maybe even to grow up a little bit (just kidding). Seriously, self-motivation is a huge part of any job that requires a person to motivate other people, and this is certainly a useful approach to self-motivation for time-strapped teachers.

Today's ColumnEmma McDonald: Ease Stress by Being Prepared
Preparation is the key to being a successful teacher. The more thought and effort you put into your lessons and your job, the better teacher you will be. You also will be less stressed throughout the year. Best of all, taking a little time throughout the week to prepare actually will give you more time for yourself.

Lesson Planning Theme of the Week
Celebrate SpringThe Vernal Equinox is one of four great seasonal changes every year. The changing weather can lift the spirits of young and old alike. Don't miss this opportunity to have some fun. Included: Lessons that involve students in growing things and learning about scientific classification, plant cell structure, plant history, and the many uses of plants. Plus springtime games, printables, crafts, more.

Comedy Teams
Looking for a way to pair up students? Cut out cartoon strips from the daily newspaper. Then cut each strip into two sections. Hand out the sections and challenge students to find the student with the other half of their comic strip. Students whose comics go together are partners for the day's activity.
