Welcome to the HHES Band Website!
The recruitment period has ended, and we're off to a great start! Wehave a large beginner band, and most of last year's fourth graders havereturned as advanced players. I'm very excited to see what this year'sgroup will accomplish!
Band days are on MONDAY and WEDNESDAY. Students will need to bring their lessonbooks and instruments to school every week for their band lesson. Ifyour child plays a reed instrument (saxophone or clarinet), please makesure they have plenty of extra reeds in their cases! Reeds break andwear out, and need to be replaced on a regular basis. Every reedplayer should have extra reeds on hand in case one breaks on themunexpectedly.
As our beginners start learning about their new instruments, it isimportant that they practice daily, so they can begin building theirskills. Five to ten minutes is all it takes! Don't go overboard withpracticing; we don't want to wear out their lips and fingers!
Advanced players should be practicing 15 to 20 minutes per day. We areusing the practice logs again this year, so please be sure to sign andreturn the practice log each week!
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks for visiting!
