Cadets and Parents,
This week we will begin U2L1. Cadets will be completing practice activites with their new vocabulary words throughout the week via the e-textbook, quizlet and posted videos w/ correspoding word docs.
There are a few graded assignments this week that need to be completed digitally in the e-textbook and a U2L1 vocab quiz that cadets will complete via google docs. Assignments and grades continue to be posted in HAC. Next week we will begin conjugating regular verbs.
Starting today, I will be offering two weekly tutoring sessions via ZOOM for anyone who would like to join in, ask questions, review assignments and/or get some extra help. I will add these events to the class calendar on BAND. Zoom also has an app for your phone that works great too. If you did not create a ZOOM account on Monday, please do so ASAP. My tutoring hours will be WEDNESDAYS from 12:00-12:30 and THURSDAYS from 8:00 pm-8:30 pm (I know this is outside of school hours but I figured you all aren't all awake these days from 8-8:30am....). If you cannot make these time frames work, please reach out and we can try to coordinate something that does. The links to these meetings are posted in the CALENDAR/EVENT feature on BAND. Please check it out for the link and more info on how to join a tutoring session. These are NOT required meetings.
MP 3 grades are finalized and I believe report cards will be available on HAC on Friday.
Next week we will begin conjugating regular verbs.

Parents & Cadets,
The following information will also be reviewed on BAND with cadets tomorrow. Below is a rough outline of what you can expect from me and what I expect from you moving forward. I understand these are very uncertain times and everyone's situation is different. If at any point you need help, an extension, whatever - PLEASE ASK AND REACH OUT!
What I expect of Cadets:
1. Log in at least twice daily on BAND (once AM/once PM) to check for any updates/announcements.
2. Complete all posted assignments with 48 hours.
3. Communicate any and all needs/concerns with me via e-mail or on the BAND app
What Cadets can expect of me:
1. To Log in at least 3 times per day (approx: 8 am, 2pm, 8 pm)
2. To continue to post grades on HAC for assignments submitted digitally
3. To respond to all questions within 24 hours
4. To post quality instruction, digital learning tools and activities daily.
5. Host tutoring session via Zoom as needed for those cadets needing extra help.
Remember, this is totally new for me too and I am working dilligently to move all of my lessons online for you all. I also have two children at home (under the age of 4) that need my constant attention. I am slowly learning to balance the new normal, just as you all are. I know we can work together to be sure you are prepared for Spanish 2 next year. You will get out what you put into this digital learning experience. So, find a routine, create a good workspace and let's make it happen!

Last week was an introduction to Distance Learning via BAND and an opportunity to wrap up MP3.
Please be sure you (or your cadet) has viewed ALL POSTS from last week. Major Highlights include:
1. Completing Activity Leer C on my.hrw.com (e-textbook) - video tutorial on BAND - those who have submitted have a grade in HAC (so you know if I got it or not)
2. Extra Credit Opportunity (due by Midnight tonight)
3. U1L2.5 Summative Test via Google Forms (due by Monday at Midnight).
I am putting in writing prompt grades as we speak and will hopefully have the compelte U1L2.5 Quizzes graded and posted Monday morning.

The DMA administration team has decided to require all teachers to utilize the BAND app for class communications while school is closed due to COVID-19.
