Hello Parents!

Our class worked very hard to prepare for Mid-term exams. We did very well studying, reviewing, preparing, and using the strategies and skills we learned in class. These assessments will also help us see where we have some room for growth in the coming months.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT NIGHTLY READING: Please remember that it is very important that each child read silently each night. Studies show that reading nightly consistently improves reading comprehension and fluency.

IN ADDITION TO NIGHTLY READING: Please periodically talk with your child about what he or she is reading. In class we are practicing using the words from a question in the response. This is a skill that should be mastered by the end of fourth grade.

Example: Why did the main character feel happy in Chapter 1?
Answer: The main character felt happy in Chapter 1 because...

Your help with this extra practice at home will surely help us in our studies.

Every student is also responsible for bringing a silent reading book to school each day.

Thank you again for all that you do, and your constant support and cooperation.

Happy Fall!

Fourth grade has been working very hard in class. We have learned about addition and subtraction of multiple digit numbers, different strategies for word problems, sequencing, making inferences, and much more!

Please remember that it is very important that each child read silently each night. Studies show that reading nightly consistently improves reading comprehension and fluency. Every student is also responsible for bringing a silent reading book to school each day.

Thank you to all who have sent in supplies to school like hand sanitizer and paper towels. We are fully stocked at the moment! The items we most need now are Clorox wipes and Post-Its.

Thank you for all of your support and cooperation! This is truly a remarkable class.

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

I hope that you all had a terrific summer and are ready to have a great year together. Here is some information that you might find useful as we begin this academic year.

In the upcoming weeks I will send home all of your workbooks and textbooks to be covered. I won't send them all at once so your backpack doesn't get too heavy! Please make sure that all of the HARD COVER books have a sleeve and the SOFT COVER books are covered with contact paper. The soft workbooks should have your name written on the inside. The hard textbooks should have your name on the sleeve. It is very important to make sure these items are covered.

Please make sure that you have the following items each day:

2 sharpened pencils
1 eraser
Your folder with any forms or notes from home
Your homework

I look forward to working with you all to make 4th grade a memorable year for us all!

Sincerely,
Miss Zimbaro
