Dear parents,

We are in our second week of school! Your child is learning to find comfort in the classroom and becoming familiar with our school routine. It may take some more time for your child to be confident in their new surroundings. We will work together to make sure s/he feels more comfortable as we progress this month.
We are beginning a new unit this week, All About Me. During this unit, your child will learn about feelings, different parts of the body, and the 5 senses (sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste). Your child will begin to discover what s/he likes and does not like, while making connections with their peers. Also, this is a great time to learn about different cultures that are represented in the class. If you would like to share your customs or traditions, please notify me one day before your visit. We have fun class projects planned to help your child learn All About Me.
Family Activities:
Ask your child to show you the "Head, Shoulders, and Knees" song.
Sing and move to “If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.”
Create a sensory activity like mixing corn starch, vegetable oil, and glitter to make a “cloud dough.” You can use different ingredients to help your child develop their 5 senses. You can visit www.handsonaswegrow.com to find more at-home activities.

Sincerely,
Ms. Clark

Queridos Padres,

Sinceramente,

Ms. Clark

Dear Prek 4-4 Parents,

Welcome to Prek! I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer. This year is very special as your child begins prek and prepares for kindergarten. Your child will learn and explore different activities and themes. Your child will learn through play and hands-on activities. At times, it may seem like they are just playing but please understand that there is a lot of learning happening behind each planned activity.
Throughout the year, your child will grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, and independently. For some children, it may be difficult at first to be separated from you and home. Please take the time to talk with your child about the school day and assure them that they will be picked-up from school. I have many planned activities to help them transition from home to a school environment. I look forward to working together with all of you and making this year the best one yet!

Important information
Doors open at 7:30am through side door. Class begins at 7:45am. After 7:45am s/he must enter the main door. Afternoon pickup is at 2:05pm through side door. If you arrive after 2:30pm then you must go to the main school building to pick-up your child and you will be charged a late fee of $25.
Please be on time when picking up your child at 2:05pm because afterschool charges will apply if your child is not picked up on time.
Our regular hours are 7:45am – 2:05pm. It is extremely important that your child is on time as our morning meeting and activities are very important for your child.
You MUST sign your child IN and OUT. At dismissal, a signature and time is required.
If someone else other than you is picking up your child please advise them to bring picture-ID and make sure their name is on the pickup list. (Given out Today) If the person is not on the pickup list, please send in a note, call the office or email me with the person’s name so I have a record. If you forget to send in the person’s name and s/he is not on the pickup list and if I can't get in touch with a parent to confirm the pickup person, your child will be placed in afterschool and charged $25.
If your child is absent, it is mandatory that you call the school 347-326-8593 or email me ([email protected]) that morning. When the child returns to school please send in an absent note including the date and reason of absence.
Please send in an extra pair of clothes in a ziplock bag with your child's name and PreK 4-4 in case of an accident. Your child must be able to change him/her self, so please take this time to teach/practice with your child at home.
Please be sure to label ALL of your child’s belongings with their name and PreK 4-4
Your child will need a crib sheet and a light blanket for their rest mat, which they will use everyday for nap time. Every Friday blankets and sheets will be returned home to be washed for Monday.
Please check and empty your child’s folder daily, as family activities and important papers will be sent home frequently.
If your child will be attending our After School program, please send in a snack.
As the weather gets colder, please send your child with a jacket, gloves, hat and shoes to run in, as we go outdoors for gross motor.

Sincerely,

Ms. Clark
