¡Bienvenidos a La Clase de Español! Week of Monday, June 12, 2017 - Friday, June 16, 2017 All students in grades 2-8 will be making a Spanish t-shirt as their culminating project in Spanish class this year. Students will design the t-shirt using the vocabulary words and phrases that they have learned this year as well as the grammatical structures that they have learned and mastered. Please note that the t-shirt will be drawn and written on using fabric markers. Students in grades 6-8 had a Mexican Fiesta on Thursday, June 8th in IHM's lower church. The fiesta took place from 12:30-2:30 pm. The food was catered by The Taco Project in Tarrytown. There was a taco bar with beef, chicken, and shrimp, hard and soft tacos, Mexican rice and beans, Mexican salad with "queso fresco," quesadillas, guacamole, salsa, beverages, and churros with chocolate or caramel sauce for dessert. There were also cake pops decorated like the Mexican flag. In addition, students had an opportunity to make four different Mexican crafts during the fiesta. The Mexican fiesta was a wonderful culminating activity for the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders to celebrate a great year in Spanish class! All students are encouraged to log onto Quizlet in order to practice Spanish at home. Students can find my Quizlet page by logging onto www.quizlet.com and searching for Señora Cinguina. Once students have found Señora Cinguina's home page, they should search for their class, Spanish - Kindergarten through Spanish Grade 8. Students can practice new vocabulary words and phrases using Quizlet. Students in the third through the eighth grade can also log onto Duolingo to practice Spanish at home. During the summer, students are encouraged to record the number of minutes that they spend practicing Spanish on Quizlet and/or Duolingo each day. In September, students will receive extra credit for each day that they log onto either and/or both programs. Spanish - Kindergarten - On Friday, June 9th the kindergarten students did a wonderful job singing three Spanish songs during their graduation ceremony. They sang "Los Colores," "¿Cómo Estás," and "Uno, Dos, Tres, Gatitos." Congratulations to all kindergarten students on a job well done singing in Spanish during graduation, and throughout the year in Spanish class. I hope that all of the kindergarten students have a wonderful and restful summer. I look forward to seeing them next year!
