It is with great sadness that I write this final weekly letter to you for this school year. It seems like just yesterday you were walking into Room 2 with your little ones! They have grown so much this year and I feel so blessed to have been part of this experience with you. I am also very excited because I know that they are well prepared for first grade and are ready for this next chapter in their lives. I know many of you are anxious about next year and who their teacher will be. Please know that I have thought a lot about where I think each child will do their personal best. When placing your son/daughter, I will be thinking about your child's personality, their strengths, the teaching styles of our four amazing first grade teachers, and friendships. Please understand I do need to divide the Wondrous Whales evenly amongst the four classes and that unfortunately I will not be able to grant all of your requests. I can promise you that I will do my very best to place them where I think they will continue to blossom. To end this school year, let's celebrate! On Wednesday, we are going to have our Promotion to 1st Grade Celebration at 10:45 in our room. We are going to share a poem with you and sing. Mr. Besnard will be in attendance to hand out certificates. I hope the students memorized their line sent home with them on Friday! Please practice with them on Monday and Tuesday evening as well. Have them say their line slowly, cleary, and with expression! On Thursday, we are going to celebrate our last day of kindergarten at DeGarmo Park having a beach party! Students will need a beach towel! Posted outside our classroom will be a wish list of items for our party. Please sign up if you are interested in donating to our beach day fun! It has been a grand adventure! Thank you! Have a wonderful summer break and please keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Amy Williams
P.S. Mrs. Bentler will be our substitute on Tuesday. Shasta School is holding our first Kindergarten Round Up for incoming kindergarten students and families. I am excited to be part of it!
Hello Room 2 Families! It sounds like you had a fun three day weekend. I heard stories about the fair and camping today. My family and I spent our weekend in Reno at a basketball tournament. Landon's team won the fourth grade boys' championship! It was an exciting and very busy weekend. I hope you enjoyed Grandparents, Family, and Friends Day at Shasta School! I thought the students' performance of the "Three Piggy Opera" was out of this world entertaining! (Did any one video tape it? Can I get a copy to share with the class?) I also hope you enjoy their Farm Books, Living Things Books, and their Memory Books for many years to come. Landon, Alli, and I still get out their kindergarten books and enjoy taking a stroll down memory lane! They grow so fast! The students' silhouettes will also be sent home this week. Today, we played a guessing game in class. They know each other very well. A big thank you to those who signed up to bring food for this special day! We have appreciated your support over and over throughout this school year! And the fun continues this week with our field trip to Two By Two Ranch and Petting Zoo tomorrow morning. We will leave Shasta School at 8:45 and should return to school around 10:45. Students will need booster seats for tomorrow's trip. Please put their name on it and send it with them in the morning. Below is the list of drivers and the students with each driver.

Other exciting events this week include the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast for all of you! This is our way of saying thank you for the time you spend with our students each week! It is from 7:30 to 8:30 am this Friday morning. Please join us and enjoy some delicious food! Next week we will have two special events to end this amazing kindergarten journey. We will have a special promotion ceremony next Wednesday morning and end our year with a Beach Day on the last day of school. More information about these events will come later in the week! Sent home with many of your students today were flash cards of the popcorn words they need to continue to practice this week. We are responsible for the first 40 words and I want ALL 21 students to leave my class knowing these 40 words finger snapping fast! We can do it! Remember to make it fun and play games! I want to thank you for making this year a very memorable one. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know your families and think so fondly of all of you. You are amazing and you are the future of Shasta School! How lucky for us!
Smiles,
Amy Williams
Room 2 Wondrous Whales are soooo excited to share our performance and school work with you this Friday, May 23rd for our annual Grandparents, Family and Friends Day. It starts at 8:30 am with the "Three Piggy Opera" in the cafeteria! After our amazing performance you will venture to Room 2 for our Open House where students will share their Farm Books, Living Things Books, and other exciting activities and projects! Other news happenings in Room 2 include our visit from Beekeeper Ryan today, our upcoming field trip to the Two By Two Petting Zoo, and our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. Samantha's Uncle Ryan visited our classroom today to talk about the importance of bees and showed us his see through bee hive where we saw worker bees and drones (male bees)! The students asked excellent questions and impressed him with our respectful behavior. I was very proud of them. Ask them about his visit this evening. I will send home permission slips for our field trip to the farm tomorrow. Please fill it out and send it back to school on Friday with a $5 donation for the cost of the trip. If you are interested in driving, please check that box and let me know the number of students you can take. I am still looking for a few drivers to help us out! PLEASE! Last by not least, us Shasta Teachers love our volunteers and want to thank you for your time and support with a Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast! It is next Friday, May 30th from 7:30 to 8:30 am in the Shasta Cafeteria. It is a celebration of YOU and this year was successful and fun because of you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I hope you join us! You really do make the difference! Please keep practicing those popcorn words and counting to 100 and beyond! See you on Friday for a family fun packed day!
