Week of January 5, 2009 – January 9, 2009

Monday 1/5

Objective

The student will find the congruent and supplementary angles formed when a transversal cuts parallel lines.

Teacher Activities

§          Display the answers to Friday’s assignment, and answer any questions that may arise from it.

§          Draw a sketch of two parallel lines intersected by a transversal, and have a student measure same-side interior angles.  Repeat.  Discuss with students how they’ll always be supplementary.

§          Draw sketches to illustrate the new theorem.

§          Complete several examples, with student participation. 

§          Check for student understanding, and provide extra examples as needed.

§          Assist students with their new assignment.

Student Activities

§          Check Friday’s homework and turn it in.a23

§          Copy the theorem into their Postulates/Theorems section of their notebooks.

§          Copy examples into the Notes section of their notebooks.

§          Participate in any discussions that may arise, answer questions as called upon, and ask questions when understanding is not present.

§          Work on new homework assignment.
