Monday – January 5

 

ObjectiveStudents will be able to use vocabulary correctly and be able to recognize literary terms.

Teacher Activity:   Hand out terms.  Pronounce and go over them.  Then give them the writing assignment.

 

Student Activity:    Using the vocabulary words, write a creative story in which you utilize your knowledge of grammar.  Include a compound/complex sentence, an imperative sentence, a sentence with a gerund phrase, a sentence with an infinitive phrase, a simple sentence, and a compound sentence.  Underline these elements and identify them in the margin.

HOMEWORK:  Each student is to bring in three different political cartoons by Thursday.

Student Activity: The first 15 minutes of the period will be used to take the Close Reading quiz.  We will grade these in class. Analyze the political cartoons that you brought.  Do this is pairs.  Then be ready to share these with the rest of the class.

Teacher activities:   Assign the two pieces of revolutionary speech to two different groups.  Choose the groups by 1,2 method

 

Student activities:  In small groups, read the speech, do a précis over the piece and find five  examples of pathos and two examples of logos in the piece.  Be prepared to teach this piece to the other group.

Assessment/Evaluation:  Grade for completion as well as accurately identifying the appeals….a separate grade over presentation of the piece to the other part of the class

  4. Create a prestige license plate that represents that character
  5. Find three quotes in the play that illustrate the character and his/her traits.
