SUPPORT OPERATION LIBRARY!!!

HOW IS YOUR SCIENCE PROJECT COMING ALONG?

NOVEMBER IS...

NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH
ARAB-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
CHILD SAFETY & PROTECTION MONTH

SCHOOL LIBRARY NOTES

Many thanks to the efforts of one concerned parent who realized the importance of a library. OPERATION LIBRARY is now underway! Please have your parents write the letter to Mr. Mike Madigan. You too, write your letter. The more support we can show Mr. Madigan, the more he will realize that our school is in need of this space! As an added incentive, we are awarding the students of the family who returns the letter with...an out-of-uniform pass to be used on any non-Jean's Day. Do what you can...do more than you can...to help! We will also be visible on report card pick up day. If the pictures of the library don't crush your heart, I will offer a tour!

The library is now open for students on Tuesday & Wednesday. Classrooms have assigned times to visit to select books for AR testing or personal enjoyment. We have Mrs. Sever, who is returning for one day. She works in the Homework Helpers Program at West Lawn Library (a free program to help students with their schoolwork from 3:00-6:00PM Mondays through Thursdays). Mrs. Espitia will staff it one day. Mrs. Espitia works in the main office.

SCIENCE FAIR NOTES...Students your sources must be cited. You must follow APA style. You can use online bibliography makers, such as Noodle Bib or citationmaker. Just plug in the information you have and it will create it for you (Noodle Bib uses the word...generate). Some conventions need to be followed:

*the resource page (bibliography page) must be in alphabetical order by first word in entry

*the first word of the entry must be at the left margin. Any lines that follow must be indented 5 spaces (or a hit of the tab key).

*each entry must be doubled-space (format>paragarph>line spacing)

*do not embarrass yourself by using search engines in your bibliography (such as google.com, yahoo.com)

*do not embarrass yourself by using unreliable and unauthoratative sources, such as wiki answers or wikipedia.com as your sources. This shows that you do not research your topic thoroughly enough to get appropriate sources.
