Fifth graders will be taking the Acre test on Tuesday. They will need #2 pencils. This is a test that requires no studying. It is based on the knowledge they already have in Religion.

 The virtue of the month is courage.

 Reading:  We will read the story Sleds on Boston Common. The concepts that will be discussed are drawing conclusions, elements of plot, summarizing, theme, making inferences, base words and vocabulary. The test will be next week.

ELA:  The class will review demonstrative and interrogative pronouns, possessive pronouns, antecedents, contractions, reflexive pronouns, and intensive pronouns in  preparation for the test.The test will be on Friday. A study guide went home on Friday.

Religion:   We will review Chapter 11. The concepts discussed are the Eucharist and  the four parts of the Mass. The parts we will discussing are the introductory rites, the liturgy of the word, liturgy of the Eucharist, and the concluding rites. The test will be Wednesday.

Students have been assigned a project on the four parts of the mass. It is due on Thursday.

Social Studies:   We will begin lesson three and discuss the Spanish building an Empire. We will also learn about Historical Maps. The test will be next week.

Spelling:  The class is working on reviewing Units 5 to 8. There will be a Unit Spelling Test on Monday of next week. They will need to know the spelling of all the words from Units 5 to 8.
