Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten:Students in these grades are in the last week of a unit on Perceptual Motor and Locomotor Skills. They will be participating in games and activities that emphasize turning, swinging, pushing, pulling and cooperative play.
First, Second and Third Grades: Students in these grades are in a unit on Movement Exploration and Simple Games. These are two units that complement each other. Jump ropes will continue to be part of the warm-up. We will be working on double and single jumping this week.
Fourth-Fifth Grades: Students in these grades are in a unit on Ball Games and Lead-Up Skills. This unit incorporates all the skills developed in the younger grades and utilizes them in various games and activities. Strategy and decision making becomes very important at this level. In addition to the previosly mentioned skills, the students will be working on catching, throwing, dodging, tagging, running, kicking, and striking. This unit will be wrappping up in the next week or two. We will stay outside as long as we can.
Sixth-Eighth Grades: Students in these grades are wrapping up a unit on Soccer this week. All classes will be playing full field. They will be doing circuits as part of their warm-up along with a variety of stretches and exercises.
Intramural News: Soccer Intramurals are in full swing. Both tournaments are down to three teams. The semi finals and finals will be played this week. Stay tuned...
