COURSE DESCRIPTION:                                                                           
The purpose of this course is to extend the study of the structure and properties of the system of real numbers and introduces the structure and properties of the system of complex numbers. 


SUPPLY LIST:

3. Loose leaf notebook paper
4. Graph paper
5. Graphing calculator (TI-84, TI-83 plus, or TI-Nspire)

GRADING SCALE:
89.5 - 100    A
79.5 - 89.4   B
69.5 - 79.4   C
59.5 - 69.4   D
0 - 59.4         F

ALGEBRA 2 GRADING SYSTEM:
Daily Assignments (25% of the 9 weeks grades)
Tests                         (75% of the 9 weeks grades)

CLASS PROCEDURES:
School rules as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct will be strictly adhered to.  Disruptive and poor behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.  Please, do not bring food, drinks, MP3 players, IPODS and cellular phones to class.  If you must have a cell phone in class, please turn it off.  First time a cell phone is out during class the Student will be warned, after that the cell phone will be collected and held until school is dismissed for the day.  If a cell phone is used during a test, the student will earn a zero on that test. Students are to be in their seats and ready to begin when the tardy bell rings.  Once the seating plan has been finalized, attendance will be taken using the seating chart.  Students not sitting in their assigned seats will be marked absent.  Students may be moved to other seats by the teacher at any time during the school year in order to meet changing classroom and student needs. Above all, treat the classroom and everything in it with respect.


TARDY POLICY:
If a student is outside the classroom door upon the ringing of the tardy bell the student will report to room D-1 for a tardy slip.

ATTENDANCE:
School attendance shall be the direct responsibility of parents and students.  All students are expected to attend school regularly and to be on time for classes in order to benefit from the instructional program and to develop habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility.

MAKE-UP WORK:
Students, attendance is critical to your success in this course.  If you must be absent, all work should be made up according to school policy. It is your responsibility to obtain all make-up work for Ms. Watson at the website

ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE:
Fletcher's National Honor Society holds free tutoring sessions in the Media Center after school.  I will have help sessions after school on Mondays and non-early release Wednesdays.  Students will need transportation home, since the activity bus does not leave until 4:25 P.M.  If you need assistance outside of help session or class time, you need to make an appointment with me in advance personally,  at (904) 247-5905 ext. 1106 or at

GRADE RECOVERY:
To be eligible for grade recovery a student must do at least 80% of the assignments during the quarter.  The student's attendance must comply with the attendance policy.  The student should have sought help from Ms. Watson by attending after school help sessions and shown a willingness to improve their grade during the grading period.
