Then Mrs. Louison arrived to work on the bullying activity. Next, we worked on finding the sales tax and final price of items at the regular price and items on sale. Then we worked on the vocabulary project. Then off to lunch. After recreation we read in AVION until it was time to go to the Canajoharie Creek for the trout release. MAY 22, 2012

We began the day at the computer lab typing out this week's spelling words. Then we wrote shape poetry on Jean Littlehorn, Mr. Fishface, and the mayor of St. Chamant. When we arrived back upstairs we read in AVION. Next, we worked on a 4 quadrant grid. Everyone has mastered it! Great job! We worked on our vocabulary activity. Some of the kids were finishing up sentences, others were working on the vocabulary illustrations, and others were working on spellings and meanings. Then off to lunch. After recreation we worked on finding percents and calculating sales tax. We'll continue working on this tomorrow. Then we read in CADDIE WOODLAWN. Next, the kids were grouped in 4's to come up with another way to review or study our vocabulary words. Isaiah'a, Emma's, and Drew's groups all did a very good job. We'll play their special reviews tomorrow. Off to gym class

MAY 21, 2012

We began the day in the computer lab finishing up our penpal letters. When we arrived back upstairs we read in THE AVION MY UNCLE FLEW. Then we continued reviewing Roman Numerals with some Roman Numeral Bingo. Then we finished up our grammar workbook with some review of the colon and editing sentences. Then off to lunch. After recreation the chorus kids were with Mrs. Crua, those who remained watched a Boces video on the biomes. Once everyone returned, we wrote thank you notes to Mr. Sammons at Helmont Mills in St. Johnsville. Then we worked on our vocabulary words. Then off to art class.

May 18, 2012

We began the day in # 212 taking our spelling test. Then we read in THE AVION MY UNCLE FLEW. Next, we boarded the bus for a trip to the Helmont Mills fabric factory. It was an excellent exposure to what a real, operating factory is like. Safety issues were discussed in detail at our arrival and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire was tied into the discussion. The kids remembered many of the details to share! Mr. Charlie Sammons, the plant manager, was extremely cordial and knowledgeable about the business and very accomodating to the group. I had no idea the worldwide range this St. Johnsville company had. It was a good trip! Thank you to Mrs. Shariff for coming along with us. (I think she enjoyed it too.) Then off to lunch. After recreation we played Roman Numeral bingo for small prizes. Then we watched the rest of the friendship movie, E.T. Then off to the library!

Our next SPELLING TEST will be Friday, May 25, 2012
