FEBRUARY 3, 2012 NO HOMEWORK..Have a great weekend! * Don't forget to practice your Central American countries and capitals. Also the western Caribbean countries. TEST this coming Friday, FEBRUARY 10th. Study pack coming home today 2/3/12 *Study for your Science (BONES) Test February 17th FEBRUARY 3, 2012 We began the day at the computer lab reviewing our spelling words. Math ALL-STARS then had some free choice time and the remainder of the group worked on mathmagician. CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS! Nate Nasse became a member of the MATH ALL-STARS today with a time of 3 min. 28 sec.! GREAT JOB!The girls went to short meeting about, "Girls On The Run." (information coming home) When we arrived back in the classroom, we took our spelling test. Then we worked on past tense verbs. Next, we read an article on unusual facts about the bard. Then we read in ROMEO & JULIET. Romeo was banished to Mantua and Juliet found herself extremely upset. Then we went back over quadrilaterals and other geometric terms. Then off to lunch. After recreation the chorus kids were with Mrs. Crua and those who remained watched a Boces video on "MEXICO." When the group returned we passed out the Central America study pack for weekend practice. We did the first map activity together for practice. Then we completed a skeleton fill-in activity. Last we read in SWINDLE aloud and then silently. Then off to the pool. FEBRUARY 2, 2010 We began the day at the computer lab working on our ROMEO & JULIET summaries. Early finishers were able to work on Latin American maps and the bones of the skeletal system. Alex was able to lower his time to 1 min. 39 sec.! WOW ALEX! When we arrived back in the classroom we continued reading ROMEO & JULIET. Then we worked on quadrilaterals. Then we discussed the reading in SWINDLE from last night. Then there was time for silent reading. Next, we cut out and posed skeletons on construction paper. Then we headed to lunch. After recreation we finished the skeletons and wrote out the answers for the sections's questions. Then we read in our Social Studies text about natural resources in Latin America. After the reading kids went to their class, those who remained played SCRABBLE. The group with Emma, Drew, Aleah, and Logan had some good words going. We're all learning! Then off to gym class. FEBRUARY 1,2012 We began the day at the computer lab writing "So far" summaries of ROMEO & JULIET. Then we worked on Latin American maps and Mathmagician. When we arrived back in the classroom we continued reading in ROMEO & JULIET. We left Romeo waiting for a message from Juliet. The we did a review pack in math on the topics covered in the past few days. Then we worked on more triangles. Next, we talked about the reading in SWINDLE from last night. Then we read silently for about 20 minutes. Then we worked on past tense irregular verbs. Next, we did some extra geometry practice in our math workbooks. Then off to lunch. After recreation, the chorus kids were with Mrs. Crua, those who remained watched a Boces video on "Punxsutawney Phil (the famous ground hog.) When everyone returned we read a booklet about the skeletal system together. Then we filled in diagrams of the skeletal system and found out which items will be apart of our "Bones" Test. Then we worked on Latin American maps. Then we watched a Boces video on Aztec culture. Megan, Emma, Jocie, Olivia, Abby, and Felicity ART SHOW OPENING (Feb. 3, 5-7 P.M.) JANUARY 31, 2012 Thank you for all the birthday cards!! They were a nice surprise! It is always so nice to be remembered, even when you're turning 65! Thank you Aleah! Aleah made delicious cupcakes for all of us to enjoy at my birthday celebration! The cupcakes were wonderful! I stopped at Dunkin Donuts this A.M. so we had two treats this morning. I picked up decks of cards for the kids over the weekend, we learned how to play "21" before lunch and practiced some math facts and strategy at the same time. The tooth brushes/toothpaste were from a free promotion I sent for through the mail.We began the day at the computer lab working on Latin American maps, language arts skills, and mathmagician. When we arrived upstairs we reviewed the ROMEO & JULIET the group read yesterday. Then we continued on. Then we went back over using the protractor. We worked through triangles and finding the missing angle as well. Then we played "21" against ourselves and then against an opponent. We made good progress for the first time trying it. Then off to lunch. When we returned we worked on the questions and answers in our science text. Then we reviewed our speling words. Then off to the library. JANUARY 27, 2012 We began the day at the computer lab reviewing our spelling words. Then we worked on identifying the countries and capitals of Central America and the islands of the western side of the Caribbean. When we arrived back upstairs we took our spelling test. Then we finished working on the 4 quadrant grids from yesterday and tried a hand on a more difficult one! Then we worked on an analogies pack. Most of the class did well with this. Next, I introduced William Shakespeare and we read a mini-bio on him. Several students knew a little about him and shared it with the class. Then I gave some background information on ROMEO & JULIET. Then we began reading a children's adapted version of one of Shakespeare's most famous works. Then off to lunch. After recreation the kids headed to science. 5D arrived and many of the kids finished up their Washington/Lincoln pictures. When the kids returned we worked on filling in Central American and South American maps. Then off to the pool.
