    Summer is moving along very rapidly! I spent the past few days in Delhi working around Jack's house and enjoying the surroundings! When I returned, I was happy to find a letter from Carolyn, that I'll answer tomorrow.  

June 23, 2010

We began the day at the computer lab, some kids working on games and others trying to achieve Mathmagician. Back upstairs Hannah and Tyler were presented with RUBIK cubes for perfect attendance and Lucas, Vito, Josh, Austin, Tyler, Trevor, Amy, Hannah, Allison, Geri, Siearra, John, April, Greg, Renee, Dorothy, Tangen, and Jacob were awarded candy treats for earning MATHMAGICIAN status. We passed out report cards and moving up certificates and got ready for the breakfast. Following the breakfast treat we headed over to MRS. G.'s to see FIREHOUSE DOG!

Thank you for the hanging basket, flowers, gift certificates, candles, Canajoharie school bag, figurine, shirt, cosmetics, desk organizer (complete with chocolate), post-it notes, and lovely cards. I appreciate your notes and cards and all the generous donations you made to the class throughout the year. You have have been very kind. I hope your summer is fun, restful, and safe. The kids finished up with their science projects this morning, and then we came back upstairs for ice cream sundaes! Tomorrow will be the PTA/McDonalds 5th grade breakfast!

JUNE 21, 2010

Today was our last Monday together! The kids rounded up their science projects and headed down to the gym to meet Mrs. G. and set up their displays. The morning went by quickly. I watched Lucas and Ray teach numerous groups at their station. They had the little ones captivated with their experiments! Great job guys! Then we headed back up to Mrs. G.'s room and watched the movie WALLY. Tomorrow all 5th graders will have ice cream sundaes after the science activity. Mrs. G. picked up all the toppings and supplies, and after the kids left today we headed over to P. Chopper for the ice cream.

JUNE 18, 2010

We began this day at the computer lab doing something quite unusual, we typed our own translations of the French version Jean Litlehorn's composition for his mother! When we came back upstairs we celebrated Kiara's birthday with yummy cupcakes. She also treated Mrs. G.'s class to delicious cupcakes! In regular reading we read silently in the novel JOURNEY after beginning aloud together. It is a moving story about two children who seek to know how they came to live with their grandparents. In math we did a variety of review exercises: fractions, decimals, ratios, and division. After math we took our last spelling test of the year! After recreation we watched the movie SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON. Then we cleaned out the lockers and then went on to music.
