Students who qualify for grade recovery may print out the attached contract under DOWNLOADS. Once the student and his/her parent have signed it and returned the signed portion to me, I'll assign the student to the Odyssey program and he/she can get started.  ALL GRADE RECOVERY CONTRACTS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY FRIDAY, NOV. 13TH.  NO CONTRACTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE, AND STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE QUARTER 1 GRADE RECOVERY PROCESS. 

Help Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30pm in room 208

Remember to get your login and password to access your grades through On Course Systems. It is available in room 107; however, a parent or guardian must come personally to pick it up.

GRADES: In order to better identify students' areas of strengths and difficulties, I am going to a system of percentages:

Tests/Quizzes: 35%              Writing/Projects:  40%

Homework and Classwork:  25%

 
SECOND QUARTER
October 27th(A) and 28th(B)
1.  Write down Vocabulary Words for the HW:  include parts of speech and definitions.
2.  Notes:  MLA Style Format
3.  Prompt for Essay on Board
4.  Read and write down direct quotes for essay on The Chocolate War
Homework:  Create a comic strip about Halloween. Must be at least 5 slides. Students must incorporate 10 vocabulary words into the comic strip.

October 29th and 30th
1.  Read The Chocolate War
2.  Find more quotes that support the writing prompt and analysis of your character
3.  Turn in HW
4.  Notes:  How to Embed Quotes into the text with page numbes in MLA style format
5.  Write a Paragraph Analysis:  How does Goober really feel about the school's treatment of Jerry?  Use at least 2 quotes to support your response.
HW:  Start working on writing the analytical essay-Prompt found under DOWNLOADS
 
November 2nd and 3rd-
1.  Read 40-50 more pages of The Chocolate War.
2.  Find a total of 15 direct quotes based on prompt.
HW:  Write draft and planning sheet for Essay (only A day) ++(B-day needs to begin thinking about writing the essay and complete the reading of the novel.)
 
November 4th-A day only 1st, 3rd, and 4th (otherwise known as 7th period)
