Welcome 2009 - 2010 Students!!

      This is going to be an exciting year!


We are a 5th grade two-person team on track 4 at HSES. Ms. Holland is the math & science teacher and Mr. Duffield teaches language arts & social studies.

Contact Information: School 919-557-2660. Also you may send a note in with your child and I will contact you either later in the day or once I get home. If you do not hear from me within 24 hours, please call the school again. The best way to communicate with us is by writing a note in your child's agenda after you have signed the daily assignment.


School Hours:

Student Arrival 8:00 a.m.

Tardy Bell 8:20 a.m.

Announcements 8:30-8:35 a.m.

Specials 8:35-9:20

Core 9:20-2:45

Pack-up 2:45-3:00 p.m.

Student Dismissal 3:00 p.m.


Track Schedule:

1st quarter--July 27 - September 25

2nd quarter--October 19 - December 18

3rd quarter--January 21 - March 26

4th quarter--April 26 - June 30

Daily Procedures:

1. Go to cubbies and unpack book bags and place your book bag in your cubby

2. Show parent/guardian signature in agenda

3. Get prepared for the day go pay for lunch, school store, the office and
    sharpen pencils

5. Work on your morning work for the week until the bell rings.

4. During announcements silence is expected.


Closing Procedures:

1. Clean up your area around your desk

2. Go to your cubby, get your book bag and take it to your seat to pack up

3. Place all assigned homework & agenda in your book bag so that you can:

    a. take home and complete homework

    b. go over homework with your parent/guardian correct any errors

    c. and have him/her sign your agenda

4. During announcements silence is expected


Homework Policy: Homework is an extension of our classwork. Weekly assignments are given to students on Monday for the week. Parents are to sign your homework sheet and you are to return it the following day. This verifies that we all are communicating the weekly homework assignments. All completed weekly assignments are due Friday morning.
