Room 4 News April 2012
Room 4 has been very busy this month! We have been learning to use the new IPADS ! This month is National Autism month, and there are a lot of great free apps we have downloaded! Following Easter vacation we will begin our end of the year evaluations. Once those are completed, I will be scheduling our Student Support Plan conferences. We will be discussing the gains the students have made this year, and our plans for next year. In Math and Reading we continue to work at our individualized levels. Asa group in Math we are learning about ordinals. (first , second, third )We are also learning about the concept of symmetry. In Reading some of the students have completed reading books.Look for awards being sent home! In Science we are learning about the five senses. The students have been doing experiments about how things smell, taste, feel, sound and look. They liked tasting things that were sweet and sour! We touched things we could not see, and learned to describe what we could feel. It was a lot of fun to see if we guessed the objects correctly! In Social Studies we are learning about community workers and the jobs people do. The Garden Club planted flowering bulbs last month. We also weeded the garden and planted carrots and green onions. Next month we are planning to move the garden and build raised beds. We are going to “put the garden to sleep for the summer at the end of May. The only plants we have had luck growing during the summer are weeds and herbs, so we are planning to cover the beds at the end of the school year .We will then begin planting again in August. If anyone would like to help with this please let me know! Our last garden club meeting will be in May and we are planning a special lunch ! Looking forward to a great month!
