As we finish our first quarter, here are somethings we've been working on in music.Kindergarten-2nd grade Our Kindergarten classes have been learning how to properly hold & use our classroom percussion instruments, so we've also been learning about the instrument families! 1st & 2nd grade have been working on moving to various tempos & types of music. We LOVE to move & play! 3rd-6th grade 3rd grade has been learning about the instruments that are used in a Symphony Orchestra by using Benjamin Britten's 'The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra'. Carnegie Hall has a GREAT online program we've been using. The link is below if you'd like to check it out! 4th & 5th grade are busy brishing up on their music reading skills in anticipation for our upcoming Christmas concert with our new 5th-8th school choir! WE BEGIN ON RECORDERS THE WEEK OF OCT 17th, so have your recorders ready. Please let me know if you need a new recorder. The cost is $3.00. 6th grade has been working on beat subdivisions and rhythm patterns. Jr. High Auditions for the Jr. High Talent Show are now over, and we have a GREAT show lined up for you! Mark your calendars! The show is November 21 at 2:15 & 7PM in our school Gymnasium! In 7th gr., weve been working on Melody & Harmony, and being able to reconize the differences. 8th grade has missed a few weeks of music due to fieldtrips & IOWA testing. They are quickly catching up :). |
