The Week of May 21, 2012 Mrs. Corfield’s Class COMING EVENTS:
THEMES FOR THE WEEK: End-of-Year Testing, Frogs, and Addition and Subtraction (Children who need further practice in addition and/or subtraction have been given DAILY assignments beginning Monday, April 23. All assignments must be returned to school the following day. I will not be giving any addition and/or subtraction practice on Fridays.) END OF YEAR: In lieu of a classroom party, kindergarten takes time during the morning of our last day of school to play outdoors. The children always enjoy this opportunity to play on the playground; play with sidewalk chalk; use jump ropes, hula hoops, and balls; and play with bubbles. SUMMER READING: I am updating my list of books you can get at a library or bookstore that you may wish your child to use while reading over the summer. I will have on the list I send to you books that are at your child’s current reading level as well as books on the prior reading level and the following reading level. The books on their prior reading level can be used to practice reading fluency (rate). The books on the next reading level can be used for instructional/challenge purposes. Please remember that your child will need to practice the kindergarten sight words on a regular (preferably daily) basis over the summer. We do not want the children to regress over the summer. |
