Dear Parents, It looks to be a very busy week in Fourth Grade. Here is what we will be working on this week. Reading This week we will finish our Poetry Unit. The students did an excellent job of memorizing and reciting their poems today! We will complete our poetry notebooks (which we have been working on in class) and turn them in Friday. After I’ve graded them, I will send them home so that you can view all the wonderful poems your children have written throughout this unit. Later in the week, we will begin our new novel units. The theme for this unit is…..Teacher Favorites. Students will be reading The Giver, Holes, or Stone Fox. Math This week students will begin learning about measurement, both metric and standard. They will be expected to make conversions within/between metric and standard measurements of length, mass, capacity, and time. We will also cover 2D and 3D shapes in the upcoming weeks. Social Studies We will continue to practice the Preamble to the Constitution. There will be a short fill-in-the blank quiz on Thursday on the Preamble. It can be found in the Social Studies Notebook. We will also learn about the Bill of Rights this week and we’ll play “Freedom Charades” later in the week. Groups of students will act out a “right” and we will guess which ammendment guarentees us that right.
Science This week students will begin their study of plants and plant life cycles. They will be doing investigations that primarily focus on plant and flower structure this week.
Note: Thank you so much for all the beautiful flowers today! What a wonderful way to brighten a Monday.
Have a great week! Mrs. Williams
