I'd like to begin this week by thanking ALL the families who attended our first ever Student Led Conferences this past Wednesday. Students and their families really seemed to be engrossed in conversation as I walked around, and the response sheets by both students and parents were overwhelmingly in favor of student led conferences. I am SO excited that they went so well and that you appreciated all the hard work your child did in order to prepare for that occasion. Again, thank you for your continued support of your child and their education this year. This week on Monday and Tuesday is the last time students can bring in non-perishable food to donate to those less fortunate for the Thanksgiving holiday. As our classroom box continues to fill up, I just want to say thank you for thinking of those in need. I'm sure they are thankful for special people in the community like you! Just a side note that I have hall duty/car circle duty this week, so please remind your child that they may NOT come up to the classroom early to drop off their belongings. As a safety precausion, students should not be in the classroom without a teacher present.
Well, as we finish out the last week of school before our Thanksgiving Break, we will be very busy with some special activities. Here is what we have going on this week: On Monday, we will be building rollercoasters in science to test the physical science ideas of potential energy, kinetic energy, transfer of energy, gravity, mass, friction, speed, acceleration. If you would like to see the designs and how they work, feel free to drop by the classroom tomorrow between 2:00 and 2:15. We welcome you to watch these amazing experiments in action. STUDENTS: REMEMBER TO BRING IN PAPER TOWEL/TOILET PAPER ROLLS FOR TUNNELS AND TRANSFER OF ENERGY OBJECTS FOR TOMORROW. On Tuesday, we go to Enterprise Village immediately after the tardy bell rings, so DON"T BE LATE! Remember to dress professional (NO shorts, jeans, t-shirts), and feel free to pack a snack and a water if you like. Enterprise Village does have snacks and drinks available for $.25 if you choose to buy it there. Parents, if you were cleared as a volunteer, I stapled a yellow map and directions, along with the time your training begins, into your child's planner about 2 weeks ago. If you have lost it, training begins at 7:45 a.m. at the Gus Stavros Center in Largo. You would need to Mapquest the directions. We look forward to seeing you there! On Wednesday, MBES welcomes the Great American Teach-In to our school. Our class has a very special day planned with five guest speakers, all of whom are family members of my students. How fun!
SPECIAL NOTE: The website for the on-line MATH BOOK was incorrectly typed on students' blue website sheets. Please correct it to say: www.eharcourtschool.com. Thank you to Alex's family for bringing this to my attention!
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SIGN PLANNERS DAILY AND REMIND YOUR CHILD TO DO ALL THEIR HOMEWORK NIGHTLY. THANKS!
Please don't forget our NEW school hours: 8:35-2:50 Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 8:35-1:35 Wednesdays only
