Mrs. Nixon's 4th Grade Class
Welcome to 4th Grade! I am so excited to get to know everyone this year!
***Things To Know***
Homework will be given on Monday and due on Friday-Late work will be penalized 10 PTS
Tuesday folders need to be signed and returned on Wednesday (this is where you will find student work)
Agendas must be signed and returned daily
When you sign your child's agenda, you are confirming they have read their 20 minutes.
Students must read 20 minutes daily!
    
What's happening in class:


Reading: We will be working in centers with our leveled readers. The strategies and skills we will be covering are summarizing, predicting, inferring, questioning, monitoring, noting details, author's purpose, story structure, and sequence of events.





Specials:

Lunch- Everyday (11:15-11:40) Please come and eat with your children when possible
Art - Monday (1:35-2:20)
Guidance - Tuesday (1:35-2:20)
Music - Wednesday (1:35-2:20)
P.E. - Friday (1:35-2:20)
Bible History will be taught during Social Studies on Wednesday or Thursday
Recess- Everyday except for when we have PE (1:05-1:35)


Class Rules:

1. Be prepared for class.
2. Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself
3. Respect the rights and property of others.
4. Speak at appropriate times and levels.
5. Follow directions the first time.


Behavior Plan:

Every child has a STAR card that they will receive a punch for everyday as long as they do not have any rules broken or missing homework. Once they have received 20 punches on their card they will get to choose between a homework pass, computer pass, extra recess, or sitting with a friend at lunch.




Grading Scale:
93-100 A Excellent
85-92 B Above Average
77-84 C Average
70-76 D Below Average
Below 70 F Well below Average
