OUR WEEK IN REVIEW

November 20, 2009

Here’s a look at some of this week’s activities:

HANDWRITING: V, v; Y, y; W, w

PHONICS: long I; ce/ci (soft c preceded by the letter e or i); ge-/gi- words

GUIDED READING/WRITING: In our reading unit we read “Quinito’s Neighborhood” and “Firefighters” and wrote some facts we learned about firefighters.  We also  read turkey facts and wrote them on paper turkeys.

MATH: we did review activities this week.

SOCIAL STUDIES: we talked about family life for pilgrims and wrote about how pilgrim life is different from our life.  We learned about Squanto and how he was important for the Pilgrims’ survival.  We made native American trinket pouches and illustrated books titled “Pilgrim, Pilgrim”.

UPCOMING EVENTS/REMINDERS:

*NO SCHOOL next week

*CONFERENCES- Monday, 11/23 and 11/24.  I look forward to meeting with you!

*NO HOMEWORK this week- but don’t forget to document daily reading in agenda books

*HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!*
