IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!!!
The last day of school has been changed to Thursday, May 21st. The state department has said we no longer need to make up days missed, but hours. Since Deer Creek attends school 30 minutes longer than other districts, the days we have to make up is less. So our last day is May 21st.

Since our last day is different things have to be moved around!
5th grade graduation was Friday, they have to move theirs to Thursday, so ours is now Thursday morning.
We know that many of you have taken off work for recognition, but we cannot control the time change for our recognition.
The kids will need to be in our classrooms by 8:45 on May 21st.
Recognition will start in the gym at 9:15. From 10:00-10:30 there will be a reception in the kindergarten hall.
There will NOT be "regular" pm kindergarten on this day, recognition is our school day.
We will be sending home their recognition hats next week. When they come to school on Thursday, May 21st, they need to be in "Sunday Best" wearing their hats.

Recognition Items
Each child needs to bring 1 dozen cookies

All Library books are due by FRIDAY!!!! The sooner you can send them, the better.

Please do not forget to send items for Antler Day. Each child needs to bring...
AM- 1 box of Capri Sun
PM- 1 package of cookies

Email me if you have any question!
Have a great day!

I have used up my supply of dixie cups. Since we are not using our water fountain, but drinking from dixie cups, I would appreciate donations of dixie cups. You can also send your child with a water bottle, if you would like.
We are also bathing in hand sanitizer now, so we are running low on that too. We have some to last us a few more days, but will run out pretty soon. So any donations of hand sanitizer, would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you would like to help on May 14th with fun end of the year things like taking down bulletin boards, organizing stuff, etc., please send me an email.

Thanks a bunch!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped with the carnival!!! Jaime Shackford and Debbie Smith did a wonderful job of organizing and putting everything together for both classes! I appreciate everyone who volunteered their time to work and volunteered their money to buy things for our booth. The kids loved it!!!

I know school is almost over, but we still have to follow procedures and bring the necessary things to school. If your child is going home a different way, you must send a note. If they are normally a bus rider and are going to be a car rider, I have to have a note. They tell me they are supposed to go home certain ways, but they are still babies and get confused sometimes.

I still have quite a few children that have overdue library books. We will only go to library a couple more times and their books need to be turned in asap.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Harrison

Our Carnival is tomorrow night, Thursday the 30th from 5:30-8:00!
Ticket sales at the school are closed. If you still need to buy tickets, you will need to buy them at the carnival.
Also, please have your child bring a plastic bag or something to carry around any prizes that they may win during the night.
Thank you to Jaime Shackford and Debbie Smith for all of their hard work involving our "Duck-O-War" boot!!! Also, thank you to all of the parents who donated items and are going to donate their time to help run the booth!!! I thank you all so much!!! I think it is going to be a lot of fun!

Antler Day is coming up. Some of you have volunteered to help with that, thank you so much! Also, if you noticed on the bottom of the sheet it asks about bring a sack lunch or getting one at the school. This is not for Kindergarten. The entire school is given the same note. Since we normally don't eat at school, we won't be eating here for Antler Day either. Hope that makes sense.

Have a great day!

Mrs. Harrison
______________________________________________________________________
I have an additional note about the carnival:

The school is asking for donations of bottle water and soda to be sold at the carnival. All of the money raised from the carnival will go directly to the teachers at Rose Union. So the more items that are donated (ex. drinks and prizes,) the less the school has to buy, so the more money the teachers will get.
So if you can, please donate bottled water and soda for our carnival. You can leave the donations in the front office! Thanks a bunch!

April 15, 2009

Happy Wednesday!

I am sending home our last book order for the year! Our April books from the book order have yet to arrive, but should be here soon. I would normally wait another week or so before sending out our next book order, but we want to be sure it arrives before school is out! So it will be in your child's Beach Binder today!

Please do not send your child to school in flip flops or crocs. We have wood chips on our playground and they go straight through crocs and can really hurt little toes in flip flops!

Our Carnival is in a couple of weeks, April 30th. If you are still interested in volunteering, email me and I can get you in contact with our homeroom moms.

Our Kindergarten Recognition is scheduled for Thursday, May 21st at 1:30. The kiddos will not have regular kindergarten on this day. Everyone will come at 1:30 for our performance! We have already started practicing and it is going to be very cute!

We have not received many pictures for Kindergarten Recognition. If you have any pictures from parties, field trips, first day of school, etc. Send them to me in your child's Beach Binder or email them to rsvpogue@sbcglobal.net

Have a great week!

Mrs. Harrison

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

-Spring Individual Pictures are tomorrow! All children will take pictures, they will not collect money until you see the pictures!

- Book Orders are due Friday! You can do them online or send the paper orders to me!

- The Rose Union Carnival is April 30th. Our class is doing a Duck-o-War and Can-Knock-Down. The carnival is from 5:30-7:30. We must have people sign up to volunteer! I think we only have 2 people signed up so far, and need at least 10 people. You will work a 30 minute shift. The more people that sign up to help the easier it will be because you can be doubled up on the shifts! We also still need 10-12 empty and clean cans for the can knock down, a few table cloths, and some items to decorate the booths. Please email Jaime Shackford at chadandjaime@msn.com to volunteer or if you have items to donate(She is the coordinator for AM and PM). All of the money that is raised for our carnival goes directly to our school and the teachers to use in their classrooms! This is the first carnival for our school so lets make it a great one!!!

- We also need all of the pictures you have for our end of the year Kindergarten Recognition. Please send pictures to me or you can email them to rsvpogue@sbcglobal.net (Vanessa is working on our powerpoint as well as Stacy Williams and a parent in Mrs. Wilks class)Please send pictures from field trips, class parties, etc. Thanks!

- If you send birthday invitations to me to pass out, either all of the boys, all of the girls, or the whole class needs to be invited. Also, please send blank invitations. That way I can quickly throw them into binders instead of search for each kiddo. Thanks!

Hello Everyone!
I hope you had a nice and relaxing Spring Break!
Thank you to all of the volunteers that went on our wonderful Wee Wahoo field trip! The kids had a great time!

Please send in your enrollment packets (with all pages). They were due on Thursday, the 12th. We need them ASAP. I cannot turn in our classes enrollment packets to the office until I receive all of them! If you have lost your packet, you can download it from the website. Thanks!

Mrs. Harrison

March 10, 2009

Here are just a few reminders about our field trip.
- Please be on time. We need everyone in my classroom by 8:45 on Thursday.
- Make sure you child is wearing their modest bathing suit underneath their Kindergarten t-shirt. Make sure their name is in their pants that they are wearing to school and their kindergarten t-shirt. I am not sure how or where they are going to put their clothes when they are in the pool and I want to make sure everyone gets their stuff back.
-Please also send a change of clothes in a bag labeled with their name or in their backpack. Make sure they have a t-shirt to put on afterwards that isn't their kindergarten t-shirt, because they might wear their t-shirt into the water if their bathing suit is inappropriate.
- Please notify your child's daycare of the time they need to be picked up on this day. 12:00pm
- All children need to be picked up by 12:00pm.

Here is some info that is not about our field trip.
- Please send back your enrollment packets by Thursday. Tomorrow would be best since we will have our field trip on Thursday.
-Tomorrow our school is celebrating our Reading Challenge by dressing up like a pet. I forgot to tell the AM class, so your children will think you are crazy. But if your child would like, they can dress up like a pet. Don't worry about it though, I think a lot of kids will be in normal clothes tomorrow, so don't run out to the store to get stuff.
-Also, we don't have school on Friday or the next week for Spring Break.
-If you don't already have plans for your kids for Spring Break, I saw a cool think on KFOR this morning. They are doing Science Live at Science Museum Oklahoma (formerly the Omniplex). They are doing fun and cool experiments and they also have the sunken treasure exhibit. It might be something fun to do during the break!

Have a great day!

Mrs. Harrison

Picture day is tomorrow!!! Please be on time for school and have your child wear their bright blue Kindergarten t-shirt. If it is lost, have them wear any bright blue shirt (without a lot of writing on it).

Wee Wahoo permission slips are due tomorrow!

Conferences are next Monday and Thursday. Alot of people have requested the same times, so I am trying to figure out how to make you all happy. If I have a problem and need to schedule you at a different time than you requested I will email you. I will send out notes Thursday or Friday with your conference time. If you feel you do not need a conference, just send it back and check "I do not feel that I need a conference at this time." All of Mondays spots are already filled, so if you have not already sent your note back please find a time on Thursday after 5:00 because up until 5 is already all taken as well. Thanks!

Mrs. Harrison

February 26, 2009

I have still not received money from about 5 of you for Kindergarten Recognition. Please send it ASAP. It is $6.00 made out to Rose Union Elementary.

We forgot to put a spot on the permission form for parents that would like to chaperone at Wee Wahoo. Parents will not be getting in the water, because they have trained staff that will be teaching the children. If you would like to chaperone, please email me or write me a note to let me know you would like to help. It should be alot of fun. We need at least 2 dads to help the boys change afterwards.

Instead of putting a sign up sheet outside of our room for conferences, we are going to send a note home that allows you to put your 1st and 2nd time preference, or to say that you do not feel you need a conference. It will be first come first served on the times. So if you need a specific time send it back as soon as you can.

Picture day is March 4th. Please be on time for school and have your child wear their bright blue Kindergarten t-shirt. If it is lost, have them wear any bright blue shirt (without a lot of writing on it).

Howard Hanger is coming on March 5th at 1:45-2:30. Since the AM kids won't be here, parents are welcome to bring your AM kiddos up to watch. You will need to sit with your child in the bleachers.

The book fair is coming up. It will be the week before Spring Break. March 9-12th. I will let you know at a later date when our class will be going.

Have a great day!

Mrs. Harrison

January 12th

Hello everyone! Just a few things to tell you about...

- Report cards go home tomorrow. Sign the envelope and send it back. You can keep the report card. If you have any questions about the report card, feel free to email me, that is the best way for me to commmunicate!
-Cuddly Dudley, our class penguin, began going home today. If it is your child's turn to have him for the evening, please read the book, do the activity, and send him back to school the next day. We want everyone to get a turn.
-If you have not sent the permission slip back in for Cuddly Dudley, just email me and I will put your child's name on the list.
-I sent the January book order home today. There are some really great books in there! The more books you buy for your children, the more points our class earns to get free books for our class library! You can do the paper order form or do it online. Either way is great! Just make sure it is done by this Friday, January 16th.
-NO SCHOOL on January 19th. This was a built in snow day, and we have not used any snow days yet, so no school on Monday.

Have a great week!!!

Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had a very relaxing and enjoyable break. Mine was wonderful. Thank you again for all of the amazing Christmas presents and awesome parties! The kids had such a blast!

For Christmas, my dad gave me, my husband, sister, mom, and himself a trip to the BCS champship game in Miami on Thursday! So I will not be here for the PM class on Wednesday and will miss both classes on Thursday and Friday. I will be back on Monday. So if you have any notes that you need to give me, I will not get them until Monday. That goes for emails as well.

Report cards will go home next Tuesday, the 13th. Keep everything inside and just send back the white envelope. If you still have the envelope from last time, please send it back asap. Thanks! Have a great week!!!

Hello everyone! I hope you are all staying warm in this freezing weather. Please remember to dress to your children appropriatly for the weather. Our parties are Friday. The morning party is at 10:30 and the afternoon party is at 2:45, with a school wide sing-a-long at 2:15.

Cuddly Dudley will not be going home until after Christmas break. I just wanted to get all of the permission slips in before the break. Send them in if you have not yet.

I just wanted to say Thank you to Lori Ritz, a mom of an afternoon child, for coming today and making yummy cookies for the kids in the morning and afternoon class. Lori is the owner of Young Chefs Academy in Edmond. Thank you Lori!!!

I hope you all have a fabulous week and wonderful Christmas break!!! Thank you for all that you. You are all raising wonderful children. You make my job easier!!!

November 24

Just a reminder that tomorrow is our Friendship Feast! We are asking that each child bring a finger food, enough for at least 25 servings. Please do not send items with any nuts or peanut butter. Some suggestions include: cut fruit, fresh veggies, cheese cubes, pretzels, finger sandwiches, cookies, crackers, etc.
Thank you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
Mrs. Harrison

If your child is in the morning class and you would still like for them to buy books at the book fair, you may still send money. If your child is in the afternoon class, you will need to bring them up to the school before 11:30 tomorrow if you want to buy them books from the book fair.

November 3

I hope you all had a long and nice weekend! Thank you to all of the parents that helped with our fabulous Fall Parties and to all of the parents that donated items and money to make our parties wonderful! The kids all had a great time. Thank you also for all of the wonderful little goodies and gifts! I really appreciate it!
Thank you also for attending conferences. If you still have questions or think of questions you forgot to ask, feel free to email me, that is the best way to get ahold of me. I rarely check the school voicemail, so email me instead please.
Next week our fall book fair will be here. Tuesday Night from 5:30-7:00, we will be having "Camp Read-A-Long." This is a great time for you to come and pick out books with your child. AM will go to the book fair on Thursday from 9:15-9:45. PM will go on Thursday from 1:30-2:00. If you would like to come at those times to help your child pick out their books or just to help our class that would be fantastic. Sometimes it is hard for the little ones to understand how much money they have and what they can buy. Mrs. Tarron and I will be helping them, but more hands always help!
The big feathers and turkeys that went home on Wednesday are due on Friday.
Book orders that went home today are due on November 10th. You can send the paper orders back in or you can do them online, I put the correct information this time!

Thanks and have a great day!!!

Mrs. Harrison

October 21

Your child will be bringing home their pictures from picture day today! If you do not like the pictures, retakes are tomorrow, October 22nd! I believe all you do is send the pictures back if you want retakes and they will call our room and ask if anyone wants a retake. If anyone does I will send them down to have their picture taken again.

Also, if you child has any allergies (food, seasonal, etc.) I need to know just to be safe. If you have already told me, tell me again just in case you thought you told me and you didn't. We do cooking activities every Monday in our class and if I am not aware of a certain allergy your child might eat something they shouldn't.

I will be sending out reminder notes later this week about the time and day you signed up for conferences.

Thank you again to all of our amazing parents that went on our field trip!!! We could not go on field trips if it weren't for you wonderful parents!!!!!!

Have a fabulous week!!!

ZOO TRIP TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!
All children, AM and PM, need to be in our room at 8:45. If you are a chaperone, it might be a good idea to be here a little bit earlier than that. They need to be wearing their kindergarten tshirt and probably a jacket if it is rainy or chilly! They do not need to bring their backpack to school. They also need a completely disposable sack lunch with their name written on it and stapled shut. They like to eat it early if it isn't stapled. We will return back to the school at 2:00. Form a car line in the front and we will put them in the cars for you. All kids will need to be picked up by 2:15. Notify your daycares if they attend one. Thanks!!!

Mrs. Harrison

October 10th AGAIN

Our user name is: harrisonskindy (with an s after harrison)
and our password is: kindyorders

Sorry about the mix up! Orders are still due today!

If any of you would like to donate your child's old Halloween costumes or dress up clothes to our class for our dramatic play area that would be wonderful! I am wanting to do a Costume Store for the end of the month. After Halloween, if you would like to donate the costume that they just wore would be wonderful as well, so we can have them for next year! Thanks!

Have a great weekend! Boomer Sooner!

October 6

Hello everyone! I need to let you know of a typo in our newsletter from this week. Your child needs to be picked up from our zoo field trip by 2:15 not 2:30 on October 15th. Also, if you signed up to chaperone you will get a reminder note this week and more information on the day of the trip. We are very excited. Also, our Kindergarten t-shirts did come in, so your child will need to wear them on our trip. Please also make sure they are wearing tennis shoes and bring a jacket if it is raining on the day of our field trip. They will also need to bring a completely disposable sack lunch with their name written on it.

Conferences are also quickly approaching. I will need to meet with each of you for our first conference but the second of the year will be optional. I have put sign up sheets outside my door. The dates for conferences are Tuesday, October 28th from 9:00am -7:00pm and October 30th from 4:00pm-7:00pm.

Email me if you have any questions about the field trip or conferences. Have a great day!

Hello parents! Thank you all so much for making my birthday a wonderful one. I got so many amazing gifts and loved my sweet cards from the kiddos! Thank you also to the moms who brought up yummy goodies so the kids could celebrate too! You all spoiled me. Thank you so much!

Family Fun Night is Thursday night up at school from 5:30-7:30. There will be games and a silent auction. Our 2 baskets turned out amazing, thanks to our wonderful moms who put them together and to all of you who donated items!

Jog-a-Thon is on Friday. The AM will be walking/jogging/running with their 4th grade big buddies from 10:05-10:55. The PM will be walking/running/jogging with the 1st graders from 2:35-3:30.

If you are still collection money to donate for the Jog-a-Thon you can send it anytime this week.

Also, I wanted to let you all know that I will not be here for the PM class on Thursday, all day Friday and all day Monday. I will be in NYC at a wedding! So if there is anything important that I need to know just email me before then or let me know when I get back, because sometimes when we have substitutes I don't get all of the notes that you send.

Thank you again for everything that you do for me and your precious children!!!

Mrs. Harrison

September 11

Hi Everyone! I just want to give you a couple of reminders.
If you are wanting to order from our book orders, please due so by tomorrow, September 12th. It is pretty simple online. If you do not want to do it online, you can have your child bring the paper order form filled out with your check and I can do it for you. Both ways are perfectly fine. When you order books from our book orders, it gives me points and I can order free books for our classroom!!!

Also, our Zoo permission slips and money are due in one week, September 19th. I have had a couple of parents sign up in each class to chaperone, but we need many more! If you are able to go, please let me know!

Last thing, our wonderful homeroom moms in the AM and PM have sent notes home today with important information about parties and things that they would like you to know. A note also went home about our Kindergarten baskets to raise money during our Jog-a-Thon. Let's try to make our baskets fabulous so we can raise a lot of money for our wonderful school! If these notes did not make it home to you, please let me know and I can send you more copies.

Have a great day!!!

Mrs. Harrison

I have still not received Kindergarten Class Tshirt money from quite a few of you. Everyone needs to purchase this shirt because we wear it on field trips, class picture day, and other special events at school. The Kindergarten Shirt is created by your children, they are drawing themselves on fish. It will be super cute and everyone needs to have one. The order forms and money are due tomorrow!!! They are $8.50.

Also, don't forget Grandparents Day is tomorrow. AM is from 10:00-10:30 and PM is from 3:00-3:30. We look forward to meeting all of our grandparents and special people!

Mrs. Harrison

August 27

I hope you have all had a great week so far. I have a few important things that you need to know.

--- Grandparents Day is next Friday, September 5th. AM Kindergarten is inviting Grandparents from 10:00-10:30. PM Kindergarten is inviting Grandparents from 3:00-3:30. We will be having juice and cookies and celebrating our wonderful grandparents. If your child's grandparents are unable to attend or are deceased, they may bring any special person in their life (i.e., aunt, uncle, mom, dad, etc.)

--- Money for our Kindergarten Class T-shirt is due Friday, September 5th. Your children really need to have one of these shirts! We will wear them on field trips, class picture days, and other special days at school. They are $8.50. Adults can also purchase shirts. They will be very cute because your child will draw a picture of him/herself and they will be on the shirt!

--- I am putting together our class calling tree. I had a note on one of the tables on Meet the Teacher day for parents to sign up saying they would like their information to be given to the rest of the class. However, I only have half the parents sign up in both classes. I have a feeling that many of you did not see the note. If you would like me to include your phone number, address, and email address on our calling tree please let me know. This information is helpful to other parents because you can use it when sending out birthday invitations, Valentines, setting up a carpool, playdates, or calling about school related events.

Also, if you signed up to be a DEER Mom I am working on putting a schedule together for everyone. Hopefully it can be up and running after our wonderful 3 day weekend. I will be contacting each of you!

Thank you all for having such wonderful babies! It makes my job a lot of fun!

Mrs. Harrison

(If you still have not notified me that you are getting the school notes, please send me an email. I want to make sure all parents are receiving this information. Thank you!)

August 24

Rose Union will be having Open House on Tuesday, August 26th. However, Kindergarten already had Parent Night on August 11th, so we will not be here for Open House. There will be an introduction of our new principal, PTO president and other important people from 5:30-6:00 in the gym. Feel free to come to the introduction meeting, but we will not be in our classrooms for open house. Also, I believe PTO will be selling their cute tshirts, bags, and other Deer Creek items during Open House. Have a great week!!!

(If you still have not notified me that you are getting the school notes, please send me an email. I want to make sure all parents are receiving this information. Thank you!)

Hello Parents,

This is just another email to make sure you are all getting school notes. If you already responded to the first email, I have marked you off.
Please send me a response email if you have not already done so, I need to know if you are receiving the school notes.
BEACH Binders went home today. Please check the notes and send back the BEACH binder every day! Thanks!
AM parents- I no longer need moms to volunteer for our Homeroom mom. Thank you so much for everyone that volunteered!

Hello Parents,

I hope all of your children have had a wonderful time so far in Kindergarten! I have already had a lot of fun with them!

I have signed you all up for School Notes. School Notes is a very simple way to communicate quickly and effectively with each of you.

If there are important reminders or events that suddendly arise, you will be notified using this website. I have entered each of your email addresses into the database and you will receive a notification when I update the site.
We also have a Kindergarten website:
http://teacherweb.com/OK/DeerCreekRoseUnion/MeredithHarrison/

The easiest way to get ahold of me is to email me. I am really bad about checking my messages left on the school phone, so email is the best way to get me!

Please respond to this update so I can be sure I put your email address in correctly. If you gave me 2 email addresses, one for mom and dad, I just put the first one on the list into the school notes website. If you would like me to include both, so you are both notified of updates, just let me know.

Also, we need one more person to sign up for Homeroom Mom in the AM class. We already have one fabulous mom who signed up to help, but 2 moms would be great so the work can be split up! Just email me if you would like to help.

I look forward to getting to know you and your wonderful children!!!
