Welcome to Mrs. Sprinkle's History World.  I am so excited about teaching United States History to sixth graders!  "None of us is stronger than all of us," and this website will allow all involved parties to maximize the probability that students will learn required material, develop as a responsible young person and ultimately be successful.  This Schoolnotes page includes my plans for the week.  Please keep in mind that these plans and homework assignments are tentative and will change as student needs change.  I usually have them updated by Friday evening.

The “Sponge Activity”—You know, the “Question of the Day or ?otd,” takes place each morning as students enter my classroom.  These questions “soak up, like a sponge” those few extra minutes we have while waiting for class to begin.  For the first part of the new school year, students will be given two weeks worth of geography questions.  They will be stored in the history section of their binders behind colored cardstock labeled “Warm Ups and Question of the Day (?otd).  Students will use resources like atlases and their textbook to find answers to questions.  We will then review the answers together so students will have correct responses.  After eight sets of questions, we will take the beginning of class to review.  The next day, students will have a quiz that is taken directly from the daily question sheet.  Students, who pay attention, keep up with their daily questions, and correct answers, are sure to be successful on these quizzes.
