Week of May 10-21st We finished Chapter 16 on Friday May 7th. They will have a test over chapter 16 on Tuesday May 11th. We will start chapter 19, Personal Finances, on Wednesday May 12th. This chapter we will see how we have a system in which one exchanges money for what is needed. We will define long and short term credit as well as how credit could help or hurt a family. We will see how banks provide a safe place for families to keep money and get loans. We will also go over the different kinds of insurance and how the federal government has several programs to help protect people from risks. We are also going to try and squeeze in the personal finance handbook. This will help them see what the reasons to save and invest might be. It will define what is a savings bond, mutual fund, stock, etc. It will also go over a household budget plan with them. The test over chapter 19 will be their final which will be on Friday May 21st. They will have a test over all 44 Presidents on Monday May 10th and a labeling test over all 50 states and capitals and continents and oceans on Monday May 17th. |
