Thanksgiving is fast approaching and we are reading assorted seasonal books.  PS is reading "Thanksgiving Mice!" by Roberts and doing a finger play.  Kindergarten will survey "P is for Pilgrim."  Grade 2 read "Sarah Morton's Day" which is about Plimoth Plantation.  "Thanksgiving in the White House" is an historical fiction about Tad Lincoln saving the White House turkey that grade 3 enjoyed. Two books being read are about pilgrims of a different kind.  "Molly's Pilgrim" and "Coming to America" deal with immigrants looking for freedom of religion.

Grades 5/6 are working feverishly on Columbus Children's Theatre stories.  Some have turned in final drafts; some rough drafts.  My goal is to get all the rough drafts returned to the students by tomorrow (Friday) so they can do their final draft over the weekend.  All stories MUST be turned in no later than Tuesday because I have to get them in the mail.  Stories can be single or double spaced or handwritten.  Just make sure there is no name on the paper.  The story will be attached to a cover sheet.

The Blue Jackets Book Jackets for 2009 is over.  We had great participation in all the grades! 43 students reached overtime!  Fantastic!  I will compile the data and send it to the Blue Jackets.  The prizes will be sent after Christmas and will be handed out at the awards assembly.
