Spelling Words for the week of May 14 - 18

Homework for the week of May 14 - 18
Monday - Unscramble your spelling words and write each word 3 times. Read for 15 minutes and record it in your reading log. Tuesday - Pick 5 words and write 5 sentences with at least 7 words in each sentence. Read for 15 minutes and record it in your reading log. Wednesday - Complete the math sheet sent home. Read for 15 minutes and record in your reading log. Thursday - Homework choice night. Pick one activity from the list below. 1. Type your words on a computer. Print a copy to turn in to the teacher. 2. Write a story using at least 5 of your spelling words. Pick one topic and it should have a clear beginning, middle, and end. 3. Play "Total Word Game." Each letter of the alphabet is worth a certain number of points, beginning with A=1, B=2, C=3, etc. Students total up the points for each word on their list. 4. Create a "Word Hunt" to share with the class using all of your spelling words. 5. Categorize or classify all of your words in lists however you want. Make sure that you name the categories. 6. Write a poem or song using at least 5 of your words. 7. Do you have your own idea? Make sure your parents approve and turn it in to the teacher. Friday - No homework
*Students should also review the First Grade 100 words at home. Practice addition and subtraction math facts, too.
