Page/Literature Corner/Science Lab ![]() Eighth grade news: TACHS day is finally here! Good luck to all our 8th graders tomorrow. You are so prepared! Remember to trust your instincts, eat a good breakfast, and be comfortable. I know you will do just fine! All students in 8-2 have received their TACHS tickets. Please be certain to complete the TACHS codes and high school names on the ticket by today so that your child may transfer this information tomorrow.
Graduation pictures are scheduled for November 18th. Information has been sent home today. For the girls who visited Preston, you will be able to pick up your information on Monday.
Remember to attend Open Houses and work on the applications (if necessary) for your high school choices.
Reading: Grade 8 will begin their new genre focus after the TACHS.
Grade 7 has started their genre focus - fiction. We started this unit with a science fiction piece written by Ray Bradbury in the 1950s. "All Summer in a Day" may delve into imaginary settings, but the theme is something all the students can understand - differences and how we handle them.
Grade 6 is starting one of my favorite themes - ancient Egypt! They will be focusing on a few non-fiction pieces in the coming months. They kicked off this unit by creating Egyptian art using only the colors from the time period. They will be on display for report card conferences. Please stop by and visit the gallery.
Sixth grade science:
We are reviewing our knowledge on currents by playing "Jeopardy"! The game is not quite finished, but the winners will be receiving a no homework pass. This pass is redeemable only for written science work. Good luck to all the teams.
