Jean Day on Friday!!!

Welcome to my school notes!  I will try to fill you in on our week at a glance.  You may e-mail me from this site and I will respond as soon as possible.

Reading:  We will beginTheme 10 this week.  We will discuss and review asking questions and the author's purpose as we read.  They will have five vocabulary words this week. We will have a Theme 10 test on Friday of this week.  The pages to study are pages 292-293,  294-295, & 300-304.
The vocabulary words are:  strategy, decorate, income, payment, and errand.

Spelling:  This week they will get Unit 22 words on Monday.  We will review compound words.  They will have their Unit 20 test on Friday.

Language: We will begin our study
of pronouns.                   Homework is as follows:
Monday:  Workbook pages 100 & 101.                                Tuesday:  Worksheets pages 102 & 103 on writing good sentences.
Wednesday:  Review for test.
Text pages 214-217.
On Thursday, we will have a test over pronouns on these pages.

Math: This week we will start one dimensional geometry.  Homework is as follows:
Monday:  Workbook page 101.
Tuesday:  Workbook page 103
Wednesday: Workbook pages 105 & 106. 
Thursday: Workbook page 107
 Every Wednesday, we will retest on the Monday multiplication timed test-which will count as a grade.  Do not throw the times test they bring home Monday away.  This is what they will review for their times test on Wednesday which is a true grade.  This week we will do times tests on 6's.


If for some reason I choose to do homework in class instead because of confusion, I will write a note in their agenda for you.

Science:  We will continue working on Chapter 4 in Science for the next few weeks.  It is on types of rocks in the Earth's crust as well as the soil and fossils.

We will not test this week.  Test on Lesson 3 & 4 will be next week.
This week we will read and do experiments and activities that will help in their understandings of soil and archeology.

A.R. FOR THIS THIRD NINE WEEKS BEGINS ON MONDAY THE 9TH.
They are now able to check out books from the library as needed.  They have their reading levels and their goals charted for them.  I would like each child to take at least two tests per week.  Please encourage your child to read whenever they can--it is so important!!!  They should be bringing them home every night and reading them.  They have to take the A.R. tests at school. If they bring books they have at home, please make sure it is on their reading level.  I am very strict about this.

Please remember to check their conduct chart and initial each evening. I will be teaching them to write their assignments in their agendas every week.  Please initial that also!  Write notes there to me also.

Tuesday papers will go out on Tuesday of this week.

Also:  please remember to make sure they have their name tags.  A good rule is to put it in their book sacks so they don't forget them. They need the tag to scan for their meals and also to check out books in the library.  Failure to bring it will be a conduct mark for uniform infraction.
