Comments:  I would like to compliment the four students who shared their awesome art work with us today:  Raul, Rene, Gustavo, and Isaac.  Well done!!  As an art teacher, I am very impressed with the quality and originality of your work.  Keep it up!
I am also impressed with the amount of writing all of my students are doing in their daily journal writes.  WoW!  A majority of the class are writing over a page in ten minutes!  That is awesome.

Whoa!!!  I was able to access homework finder today.  Yippee!!!!!
Students, READ!!!! Read 20-30 minutes or longer every day.  Try reading on Saturdays and Sundays, too.  It can't hurt!  Remember to record your pages on your bookmark each day.  Put the date on!  Dates are important.  Reading more, becoming better readers, and liking reading more are big goals for this year.  The absolute goal is to LOVE reading!

September 12, 2011

Hello and welcome to homework finder for Mz Byrne's English class!  The site is finally up and running so I can post homework.

For the last three weeks, students have been expected to read 20-30 minutes, five times a week.  We just finished reading Old Yeller by Fred Gipson and took a test today, Monday the 12th.  It is obvious that several students failed to meet their reading assignment as several did poorly on this comprehension test.  Students, you must read EVERY NIGHT.  That is a requirement.

Each student today checked out a book from my classroom library.  They must spend 20-30 minutes a night reading it.  When they are finished, they will complete a two-paged summary/response.  I will give students a model for that to work from.

We also have a vocabulary list that students will be tested on this Wednesday.  Please study your words

Spelling test of the 25 words from column 1 on the gold spelling sheet handout will be this Friday.

Homework might not be posted daily, but you will always be expected to read for 20-30 minutes.  If you miss a night, you must make it up the next night or so.
