Geometry
4th Nine Weeks We are beginning our final nine weeks for the 2011-2012 year! My how time flies! I've attached this nine weeks' assignment guide. I will try to do a better job of updating the calendar with quiz and test dates. Remember, your child's grade for the course is determined by averaging the third and fourth nine weeks' grades. Students can be exempt from the final exam in May if they meet the district requirements (no more than 4 absences, 2 each nine weeks and have a 90 or above average). Please feel free to contact me anytime you have questions or concerns. I check my email daily, whitney.necessary@lamarcountyschools.org or you can reach me at 601.264.7232 ext 6139. Thank you for your support! Whitney Necessary
Tips for the class Mathematics has its own vocabulary and language. This is especially true in Geometry. Please make sure that your child is studying all vocabulary, postulates, and theorems as we progress. Each test contains vocabulary (matching). Here are a few different ways your child could study the terms: 1) Make flashcards with the terms on one side and a picture/definition on the back. 2) Rewrite or type the vocabulary words. 3) Read the definitions aloud. 4) Have a parent or sibling quiz them on the terms. We all learn differently, so one method may work better for your child than another.
