UNIT 5 TEST IS TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9.

Eight school weeks to the CRCT! Students should be working weekly assignments from the Countdown to CRCT pages at the front of their textbook. I expect them to label their work neatly, explain or show work for every problem assigned, check/correct work as review the problems in class and keep the assignment in their notebooks. 

I will be sending home the Computation Test Report from the 2nd Computation Practice Test very soon. Please review this carefully and return it signed. Strong computation skills are very important since calculators are not allowed on the CRCT. Web practice is available at the link below. In addition, students are encouraged to use their OAS password to access practice CRCT tests on the state education website (see link below).

Supplies-  If you did not send 4 dry erase board markers at the beginning of the year OR if you can help out by sending more, I would greatly appreciate it. Also each student needs his/her own graph paper. We will use graph paper in class practically every day for the next month or more.

Unit 5 Slope

M8A3. Students will understand relations and linear functions.

g. Interpret constant difference as slope                                                           i. Translate among verbal, tabular, graphic, and algebraic representations of functions.

M8A4. Students will graph and analyze graphs of linear equations and inequalities.

a. Interpret slope as a rate of change.                                                              b. Determine the meaning of the slope and y-intercept in a given situation.        c. Graph equations of the form y = mx + b.                                                     d. Graph equations of the form ax + by = c.                                                    e. Graph the solution set of a linear inequality, identifying whether the solution set is an open or a closed half-plane.                                                                f. Determine the equation of a line given a graph, numerical information that defines the line or a context involving a linear relationship.                                g. Solve problems involving linear relationships.

M8D4. Students will organize, interpret, and make inferences from statistical data.

a. Gather data that can be modeled with a linear function.                                  b. Estimate and determine a line of best fit from a scatter plot.
