Scholarship List Week of 11/23/09 Avila University Service Leadership Scholarship If you have demonstrated significant service and leadership, have a 3.25 gpa, ACT of 22 and are considering Avila University please see Mrs. Clark. Four students can be nominated. $12,000 each year for four years. March 1, 2010. Boston University Trustee scholarship Must be applying to Boston University. Must be nominated by counselor. Please see application information at www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee. December 1, 2009. Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Scholarship Must answer essay question: Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Delivers an important message about the chances and troubles that life presents. Thinking about the book Oh, The Places You’ll Go! what kinds of opportunities and challenges do you think your education will present in the future? Essay must be typed, double spaced, and no longer than one page (500 words) with minimum font size of 12. Applications in counseling center. $5000. February 15, 2010. Fenton Area Chamber of Commerce Students living in the 63026 zip code area. Application in counseling center. Applications must be RECEIVED by March 1, 2010. Fireside Catholic Publishing We may nominate ONE student. Interested students should submit an essay answering “How is your religious education influencing your life?” The essay must be a maximum of 750 words. One essay will then be selected to complete on a national level. Five winners will receive $1000. December 1, 2009. Greater St. Louis Mother of Twins Club Must be child of multiple birth. Instructions and application at www.stlmotc.org. Financial need considered. 2 scholarships of $1000. Must be received by February 15, 2010. Jack Buck Scholar-Leadership Award Must be planning to enroll at Southeast Missouri State University. Student must have outstanding character, academic ability, and potential as leader. Kennedy Library Foundation Students are invited to write an original essay on the political courage of a U.S. elected official. Information available at www.jfklibrary.org. First place wins $10,000. Second place $1000. Five finalists $500. January 9, 2010. KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program Must have demonstrated financial need, gpa 2.75 or higher, attending a public in-state college. Application at www.kfcscholars.org. $5000 per year for four years. Application available December 1 – February 10, 2010. Missouri Botanical Garden Power of Plants Pick an amazing plant and learn the benefits. Create something that explains why it deserves our thanks. Information at www.mobot.org/power. Grand prize $1000. January 31, 2010. Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Must be enrolling in engineering program at a college in Missouri. Applicant must reside within Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Louis, St. Charles, or Warren counties. Application in counseling center. One $1250 and one $1000 awarded. December 21, 2009. Quest for Education Scholarships Must be a member of the Vantage Quest Credit Union and complete scholarship application. 20 scholarships for $1000 will be awarded. December 4, 2009. St. Louis Area Mensa Mental Health Scholarship Must be planning to major in psychology, social work, or other mental health career area, gpa 3.0. Application in counseling center. $1000. February 1, 2010. Talbots Scholarship Foundation Finalists selected based on academic record, paritipation in community activities, honors, work experience and statement of career and educational goals. Financial information required. Application available at https://www.scholarshipamerica.org/talbotswomen. Only first 5000 applications received will be eligible. Ten awards of $15,000 and one award of $30,000. January 2, 2010. University of Missouri –Columbia Alumni Scholarship Must have ACT 26 or higher, do not have to be related to MU graduate to apply. Application at www.mizzou.com/scholarship Awards from $500 to $5000. February 1, 2010. University of Missouri-Columbia College of Business Robert J. Trulaske St. Scholarships Must be majoring in business and not receiving Bright Flight, Curator’s, or Excellence Awards. Also must complete FAFSA. Application in counseling center. $7,175/year. February 1, 2010. 2010-11 Ponder Minority Scholarship Must be majoring in business and complete FAFSA. Application in counseling center. February 1, 2010. Sam M. Walton Scholarship Must be majoring in economics, finance, international business, management, or marketing and have business interests gained through work experience. Must complete FAFSA. Accounting majors are not eligible. Recipients must work part-time 10 – 12 hours/week in retailing while attending MU. Application in counseling center $7175 each year for four years. February 1, 2010. University of Missouri-St. Louis Students applying and accepted at UMSL by January 31 and have completed at least one advanced credit course (dual enrollment class with UMSL). Application at www.umsl.edu/acp $3,000/year. February 1, 2010. University of Michigan Geisinger Scholarship Must be applying to college of engineering. Application online at http://engin.umich.edu/students/scholarships/New_Students.html $20,000. January 15, 2010. University of Notre Dame Club Scholarship Program Must have applied to University of Notre Dame by December 31 and completed FAFSA by February 15. Financial need is a must for this scholarship. $1000 - $7500/year. Application for scholarship must be completed by March 31, 2010. |
