Parents:
Can you believe this is our last week of school? It has truly been a pleasure teaching your child this year. In the last couple of weeks we've been able to do some fun classroom projects. In reading we've been rehearsing our plays to perform for each other. Students have been getting creative with their props, and signs. They are learning to read and act with expression as well. In writing we generated "interview" questions for the third graders so that we can interview them about what it's like to be in third grade. We wrote letters to the 1st graders so that they will know what to look forward to in 2nd grade. In math we've been busy creating our own math game board and this week we will have fun playing each each others creative games. I will begin sending home notebooks and folders (a little bit each day), so please make sure to have your child empty his/her backpack daily. Some of you have asked what you can do in the summer with your child. Hopefully they can have a relaxing, fun summer without the grind of a full structured schedule each day. I've taught them how to login to their Scholastic summer reading account and have given them their user name and passwords again today. If you go on our Bradley Hills website, there's a link called Summer Reading. You will find the link to go to the scholastic website where your child can login his/her minutes read each day. Our school read the most minutes last summer in all of Maryland and hopefully we can win again! There's also a link for a summer reading list that is listed by level. Feel free to use that list. On your child's final report card that will be sent home in the mail, you will see which reading level he/she ended the year, and you can go from there. Your child will also know their level. Keep in mind that this is only a suggested list. It is most important that they read books of interest even if it's not on the suggested list. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Our end of the year party is on Thursday, at 2:30-3:15. My room parents are coordinating it. Please contact them if you would like to help out. It is generally a shorter, low key end of the year party. Friday is a half day, our last day of school. Unfortunately I will not be here on Friday as I will be out of town for my daughter's lacrosse tournament. Ms. Scher, my regular sub will be here so they will be in good hands. If you need to contact me for whatever reason I will be at school the following week for the Monday professional day and Tuesday/Wednesday leadership meetings throughout the week.
Also, please let me know if your child is not going to be here for the last days so that I can send everything home with them beforehand.

Thank you!

Mrs. Kim
