  • Mrs. Bausch's Lesson Plans

 Welcome  6th Grade Eaglets!

My slogan is “Make Everyday an Adventure!”

It is the LAST 9 weeks of school. Let the adventure continue!

                                    Love,

                                       Mrs. Bausch

P. S. Our time is limited.  Don't take it for granted!

Dear Parents,

I am still excited about this year at Blackmon Road Middle School. I thank God everyday to be teaching at one of the very BEST middle schools in Georgia and with one of the very best faculties!  I have gotten to know your child as we have learned and explored together. I hope your child has viewed every day as an ADVENTURE!  It is my prayer that his/her learning experience was rigorous, rewarding, exciting and FUN!!!

I'm looking forward to the rest of a FANTASTIC year!  Please read the additional parent information, and if you can assist with class needs, projects or activities, feel free to jump in!  Also, I have attached a copy of song lyrics for a song that we are learning.  Please encourage your child to learn the song.  It will be a benefit in literature studies for the rest of his/her time in secondary school and COLLEGE!!!!!!

                                         Sincerely,

                                          Judy Bausch

New Unit – Novel Study, The Cay, by Theodore Taylor

Big Idea:

The geographic and historic setting of a novel has a major effect on plot development in historic fiction.

Enduring Understandings:

Students will understand that…

Prejudice can be a barrier to accepting the goodness of another person.

Physical disabilities do not have to limit capabilities.

The beliefs and values of an individual are shaped by the beliefs and values of those around him.

Prejudices can be overcome as relationships are developed among people.

In times of hardship, people work together to survive.

Essential Questions

What is acceptance and what does it mean to be accepted?
Who influences me and how?
Can a person come to like someone they look down on?
What/who shapes my beliefs?
How would it feel to know another person sees you as inferior?
What is it like to live through a hurricane?
What is the best way to map the Caribbean and Curacao?
How are hurricanes tracked?
What do you need to do to survive disasters and accidents?
