Dear Parents,

     Way to go Giants!  Just said good night to my Sunday school class as we hosted a Super Bowl party at our home. 

     We will begin writing our class book this week during English class!  We are finishing up our book this week and doing final illustrations.  Congratulations to Grant King who won the best book cover design and will be drawing the cover!

     Valentine's Day will be here soon and Mrs. Wood and I decided to let the kids make their own Valentine day boxes to collect valentines from each other.  We will spend the last hour of our day eating sweet treats and drinks and handing out sweet notes to each other.   Please help your child decorate a shoebox, Kleenex box (big and rectangular), cereal box or any other box " very valentiney" and bring it in on Monday, February 13.  We also decided to count the box as a history grade.  The list of all 34 second graders will be coming home in the Friday folder so you can get Valentines for everyone.

   Parent/teacher conference day is Tuesday, Feb. 7.  Please call the school and Mrs. Hall will schedule an appointment for you.  School will dismiss at 1:00p.m.  PICK UP WILL BEGIN AT 12:45 AT THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER LOCATED BEHIND THE SCHOOL.

IMPORTANT DATES

Tuesday, Feb. 7---Parent/Teacher Conferences begin at 1:00p.m.  School will dismiss at 1:00.  PICKUP WILL BEGIN AT 12:45 AT THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER.

Wednesday, Feb. 8---Second grade Spelling Bee.

Monday, Feb. 13---Valentine's Day Boxes are due.

Tuesday, Feb. 14---Wear red or pink day.  HAPPY VALENTINE"S DAY!

Friday, Feb. 17---Re-enrollment ends.

Monday, Feb. 20---NO SCHOOL. Presidents Day

 This week in:

Bible:  Psalms 56:11 --- "in God I trust and am not afraid.  What can man do to me?"

Bible Story:  "Daniel Kept Praying" and "Daniel Kept Safe"

Spelling:    TEST ON FRIDAY.  Spelling list will go home every Monday.  Post it somewhere prominent and practice daily.  Unit 23

Math:  Test on Tuesday.  Subtract 6; subtract two digit numbers.              

English:  Writing a book to be published!           

Reading:  "The Boy and the Dike" and "The Old Fisherman"

Writing:  Cursive strokes of v and z.

History:  Chapter 3 "Starting the Colonies"
