Welcome Back!!!

On behalf of all the fifth grade teachers I would like to welcome you back to Julian Harris, or in the case of new students, welcome you to your new school. Mrs. Rebman, Ms. Reid, and I are looking forward to a great year full of excitement, learning, and growth as individuals. With that said, let us all start off ready to learn and begin the wonderful journey through 5th grade.      Mr. Riddle  : )

Important Reminders & Dates

  • Monday, September 7th--Labor Day--No School
  • Friday, September 4th--Space Camp $25 Fee Due

Student Progress

August

This year the 5th grade students will begin keeping data notebooks. Students and their parents will be able to monitor this progress throughout the year. The notebook will contain items such as: spelling lists, individual behavior logs, reading logs, and student goals. This process will take some getting used to, but it can be done. If this is used consistently by all of us, each student will grow as a person and become better equipped in their following years of school and life in general.

September

Well, everything seems to be going good in fifth grade. Parents make sure your child knows their multiplication facts. This is sooooo important. It will be used throughout the year. If they struggle with these, make some flash cards or talk to your teacher to get some. We will work with you to better your child. It's our job. : )

The first half of the Space Camp money is due by Nov. 13th ($250). Keep in mind that all the money doesn't have to be paid in a $250 chunk. You can pay weekly/monthly or any other way that will work for you. We know it's a great amount of money, but it is definitely worth it. Not only is it a great educational trip, it is also something they'll never forget.
