Feb. 9th- All classes will have a take home quiz which will be part of a study guide for a future test in the Disease unit. This take home quiz will first count as a homework check for the completion of part 1 . When all four parts have been assigned and corrected it will count as a quiz grade. Students will complete the questions 1-22 using their binder papers and textbook for homework tonight. Computers are also allowed. The worksheet is in the downloads section. Jan 30th- There is a quiz tomorrow that was posted on the 26th. The information is now available in the downloads. Notes and study guide. There is an essay due this Friday as well and information and rubric is also in the downloads section. Jan 26th- The cell posters were due today. This is a test grade for quarter 3. Notes were taken for the new unit: Fighting Disease and can be found in the downloads section (pgs. 592-596). In addition an ESSAY assignment was announced in class yesterday and the rubric with information is in the downloads section as well. There will be a quiz next Tuesday 1/31/12 on the notes taken up until Friday this week. We will cover pages 597-601 today and tomorrow. The essay assignment is due next Friday Feb. 3rd. Jan 18th- Homework on Tuesday night was not posted. All classes had to complete all or part of assignment #19. Period 3 had to complete the back part 2 ONLY and all the other classes had to complete both sides. Many students did not complete the homework last night. Homework for tonight is to work on "The Cell" poster page for the Big Book of Life project. This page is due on January 26th. This is an outside project. Jan 13th- All classes have been working on the next page of "The Big Book of Life" project called "The Cell". This is an ongoing project that students are creating a poster page for each unit of information they learn this year. We are currently finishing the cell unit and therefore the poster will be due on Thursday January 26th. Students already had three in-school class periods to begin the posters and the finished product will need to be done at home. Posters were sent home today. ** Please see the downloads section for a checklist and rubric for this page. Jan. 3rd. 2012 - All classes will have a quiz on Thursday on the cell unit. Study assignments #9, #11, Notes and graphic organizer #12. Dec 19th- Periods 4,6,and 7 ONLY have a cell coloring activity. Students will be coloring the animal cell drawing only and will need to color only the organelles discussed in class. DO NOT use marker. Colored pencil or crayons only. Many students did not hand in the Classification of Living Things poster page. If you did not hand this assignment in you must finish it for homework or stay after school Tuesday. -------------------------------------- Dec 12th and 13th- Study for Cell Unit Quiz- First two chapters will be on Wed. Dec. 14th. Pages 50-57 and Pages 60-67. Assignment #'s 3, 4 8 and 9 will be on the quiz. **Please refer to the flashcard option for parts of the cell/functions information. NOTE: Poster Project due on Dec.19th, there will be 3 in-school days to continue working on criteria #4. STUDY STUDY STUDY for Quarter 1 EXAM this Thursday and Friday !!! Nov 21st to Nov. 30 All classes will complete the following review assignments for the Quarter 1 Exam packet: Begin studying the vocabulary listed on the study guide, read the Inferences worksheet and complete the reading checkpoint, Complete the predicting page 1-6, Read the Metric Measurements summary page and complete the back "Measuring Length" 1-7. ** Make sure you look back at the Nov. 18th posting about the Quarter 1 Exam. ------------------------------------- Nov 18th- All classes received a study guide for the Quarter 1 Exam which is cumulative. It covers the first 4 topics taught during quarter 1.
* See downloads for a copy of the study guide. Students will receive their quarter 1 binder papers if they were organized, and all students will get review sheets over the next 2 weeks to prepare. The Exam will be two days on Dec. 1st and Dec. 2nd. We will spend some class time reviewing and preparing, however, we have begun quarter 2 work starting with the Cell Unit and most time preparing for the Quarter 1 Exam will be homework time. ----------------------------------- Nov 16th- ALL classes have a take home pre-quiz assessment. It is a reading guide for pages 50-57 and they will use the textbook to complete. ** A copy can be found in the download section. -------------------------------- Nov. 15th- Periods 3, 6, and 7 : Some students did not complete the classwork from Monday and need to finish for homework if you did not turn it in during class. Read pages 50-57 and complete the 4 key concept questions on the top left margin on page 50. Write the answers on white paper and turn it in tomorrow. --------------------------------------- Nov. 8th- We regrouped science classes today for periods 3,6 and 7. Many students in these three classes are finalizing their bean growth labs. Some have turned them in but many will need to use class time tomorrow to finish. Students were asked to work on them at home tonight. Period 4- LBGL group; Started the Cell unit today. Read pages 50-57 and complete the Key Concept questions on the top left of page 50. Complete the questions in your notes. ------------------------------------- Nov. 7th- All classes have been working on a formal lab report for the past week in school to finish our Bean Growth Lab. Students were given rough draft templates as well as a rubric for completion. The due date for Periods 4 and 7 will be on Wed. Nov.2nd. I have extended the date for completion for Period 3 and 6 until Thursday. This will be worth 2 LAB grades for quarter 2. HOMEWORK: Students were asked to complete the conclusion section of the rough draft template and this will be checked tomorrow. We start our unit on "Cells" for Periods 4 and 7 tomorrow and Periods 3 and 6 will start on Monday next week. ------------------------------------------------------ 10/28 Weekend homework thru Tuesday night- ALL classes are required to finish "The Big Book of Life" Title pages. This is a poster project and you can find the checklist in the downloads section. All classes were given 2 full periods of CLASS TIME on Wed. and Thurs. this week to begin the project.
