MAY 25TH- There will be a pre-quiz on the new unit "Ecology" on Tuesday for Periods 4,6,and 7. On Wed Period 3 will have the same pre-quiz :) May 24th- All classes will need to complete chapter questions from the Ecology chapter review worksheet. Numbers 1-7 only after re-reading pages 704-709. There is a vocabulary pre-quiz planned for May 29th after we complete the next two sections. The words are on the same worksheet. The quiz for the three sections will be on Friday June 1st. May 17th- There will be a quick pre-quiz tomorrow on the frog anatomy and functions. See the flashcard options. Students filled in the worksheet yesterday in class and we will review today and they will need to study for homework tonight. (matching format on the pre-quiz) May 16th- Complete the Amphibians packet. All classes. Read the summary page and use the textbook to answer the questions. Students are preparing the next three days to complete the frog dissection next week. May 10th- Students were given a review packet #5 to study for the Evolution quiz on Tuesday. All classes were to complete section 6-3 "The Fossil Record" for homework. May 8th- Students were given a writing assignment today on the topic of Charles Darwin and Evolution. They were all given a packet and have till May 24th to complete the assignment. It is an outside project and will be considered homework to complete over the next two weeks. There is a quiz on MAY 15th from Chapters 6-1 and 6-2. We will be taking notes the rest of the week. See the downloads for chapter information. May 3rd- Pre-quiz tomorrow !! 10 vocabulary words and 2 multiple choice questions about Charles Darwin. Reviewed in all classes tody. See flashcards. May 2nd- All classes took notes today for the Darwin's Theory chapter; we will finish tomorrow. Key terms for this chapter will need to be studied for the next two nights and a pre-quiz will be on Friday. See flashcards for the words. Pages 172- 179 in the text. May 1st- Complete the "Darwin's Theory" packet. Students were given the class period to begin the reading and questions and it must be completed for homework. (not available in a download) April 27th- Continue to study the 6 exam questions to be completed as a separate test grade on Monday. They are listed on the bottom of the exam guide and students prepared them earlier in the week and corrected them in class. HOWEVER, many students chose not to prepare them. Check the MMS grading program to see if it was completed as a homework grade. April 26th homework it to study like you mean it !!! Exam on Friday and Monday all classes. April 25th- All classes will need to have a rough draft of the essays on the genetics exam complete to review tomorrow.Perod 4,6,7 were checked today. They are the 6 essays at the bottom of the study guide. Period 3 only must complete 4 of the 6 for homework. Some students in this class already completed. April 23rd- All classes need to complete the Genetics Review crossword as well as write out the definitions for the Key terms for chapter 5:3 "Advances in Genetics". Use the glossary in the textbook. April 12th- Announced an Exam for the Genetics Unit Friday April 27th and Monday April 30th. The Content topic list is in the downloads section and the flashcards for the remaining sections will be updated soon. Students should be preparing the essay questions ahead of time so that we can review them on the Monday and Tuesday we get back from vacation. April 9th- All classes will need to complete assignment #24 "Human Genetic Disorders". Read the chapter 151-155 then complete the comprehension worksheet. Study how to complete a pedigree chart in order to work on an assessment tomorrow. April 2- Period 3 must study the vocabulary for Punnett Squares (assignment #16) for an assessment tomorrow. Period 4- Memorize the colorblindness chart from the notes today to finish an assessment tomorrow. Complete assignment #22 Using Blood Types for Identification which will be a pre-quiz grade. Period 6 and 7- Memorize the Blood Type chart from assignment #20 on Human Inheritance. It can be found on page 146 also.
March 28 : Period 3- students who were working on the retake test for chapters 4:1 and 4:2 need to complete up to number 26. In addition all students need to complete assignment #21 "Should this dog be called spot?" Period 4- Study the Human Inheritance blood type alleles and colorblindess alleles to complete the Punnett Square assessment tomorrow. Re-read pages 144- 150. Period 6- Complete #20 Human Inheritance worksheet. Use the textbook and read pages 144-150 first. Period 7- Complete #21 "Should this dog be called spot?"
March 27- period 4 and 6 only have to complete the worksheet #20 "Should this dog be called spot?". Periods 3 and 7 should study genetics vocabulary and punnett squares. March 22- All classes need to complete reading on pages 136-137 about Genetic Mutations. Complete questions 3a and 3b on page 137 in your notebook. In addition copy the information from figure 18 on page 136 about gene mutations giving details for all three types. March 21- All classes are planning their presentations for the last poster project called "Wanted" about a disease. In addition we are two chapters into the Genetics unit and completed a quiz either yesterday or today for period 3. Tonight periods 3 and 7 ONLY will need to complete the Punnett Square LAB for homework. It will be collected tomorrow. Period 4 and 6 LAB sheets were collected today. See downloads for the LAB sheet. March 20- (Posted on 3/21 A.M.) There was homework last night for Periods 4 and 6. Punnett Square Graded Lab assignment #19. They were given this worksheet after their quiz yesterday. Period 3 has the quiz on 3/21. Period 7 had no homework. March 16th- All students should be studying for the quiz on Tuesday 3/20. Assignments #12,13,14,16,and 17. Assignment #17 should be completed over the weekend which is a Punnett Square Lab worksheet. All 8 questions need to be completed.See downloads. March 15th- Wanted posters are due for period 4,6 and 7. All classes NEED to study for a QUIZ on Tuesday 3/20 which will cover chapters 4:1 and 4:2. Assignments #12,13,and 14 will be included on the quiz.
March 12- All classes continue working on the Wanted poster. All students need to study the 10 vocabulary words from assignment #12. They can be found on page 110 also. Check the flashcard option on this webpage to print them out. March 9-ALL STUDENTS need to work on the "Wanted" disease poster project that is due next week. Periods 4,6,7 due on Friday and period 3 on 3/19. March 7th= All students should be working on the "Wanted"poster project which is due in approximately a week and a half by all classes. All students should begin studying the 10 definitions for chapter 4:1 Genetics Unit page 110. Periods 3 and 6- Read and complete part 2 of worksheet #12. Check downloads section and flashcards for all information. March 6th- All classes Students were given their research documents for the disease project "Wanted" poster which will now be due Friday 3/16 for periods 4,6,7 and Monday 3/19 for period 3 only. This is the final project for the Fighting Disease unit and will need to be completed on their own time or after school. Documents for this project can be found in the downloads section. All classes started a new unit on Genetics today and have a homework page to complete. Periods 4 and 7 need to complete parts 1 and 2 of assignment #12. Period 3 and 6 need to complete part 1 only. The worksheet can be found in the downloads section. Feb 13th - students are required to have the crossword review page for part 2 and 3 of the take home quiz completed for tomorrow. Feb. 9th- All classes will have a take home quiz which will be part of a study guide for a future test in the Disease unit. This take home quiz will first count as a homework check for the completion of part 1 . When all four parts have been assigned and corrected it will count as a quiz grade. Students will complete the questions 1-22 using their binder papers and textbook for homework tonight. Computers are also allowed. The worksheet is in the downloads section. Jan 30th- There is a quiz tomorrow that was posted on the 26th. The information is now available in the downloads. Notes and study guide. There is an essay due this Friday as well and information and rubric is also in the downloads section. Jan 26th- The cell posters were due today. This is a test grade for quarter 3. Notes were taken for the new unit: Fighting Disease and can be found in the downloads section (pgs. 592-596). In addition an ESSAY assignment was announced in class yesterday and the rubric with information is in the downloads section as well. There will be a quiz next Tuesday 1/31/12 on the notes taken up until Friday this week. We will cover pages 597-601 today and tomorrow. The essay assignment is due next Friday Feb. 3rd. Jan 18th- Homework on Tuesday night was not posted. All classes had to complete all or part of assignment #19. Period 3 had to complete the back part 2 ONLY and all the other classes had to complete both sides. Many students did not complete the homework last night. Homework for tonight is to work on "The Cell" poster page for the Big Book of Life project. This page is due on January 26th. This is an outside project. Jan 13th- All classes have been working on the next page of "The Big Book of Life" project called "The Cell". This is an ongoing project that students are creating a poster page for each unit of information they learn this year. We are currently finishing the cell unit and therefore the poster will be due on Thursday January 26th. Students already had three in-school class periods to begin the posters and the finished product will need to be done at home. Posters were sent home today. ** Please see the downloads section for a checklist and rubric for this page. Jan. 3rd. 2012 - All classes will have a quiz on Thursday on the cell unit. Study assignments #9, #11, Notes and graphic organizer #12. Dec 19th- Periods 4,6,and 7 ONLY have a cell coloring activity. Students will be coloring the animal cell drawing only and will need to color only the organelles discussed in class. DO NOT use marker. Colored pencil or crayons only. Students were given rough draft templates as well as a rubric for completion. The due date for Periods 4 and 7 will be on Wed. Nov.2nd. I have extended the date for completion for Period 3 and 6 until Thursday. This will be worth 2 LAB grades for quarter 2. HOMEWORK: Students were asked to complete the conclusion section of the rough draft template and this will be checked tomorrow.
