Language Arts/Walters - Today we read scene one of "A Christmas Carol" - vocabulary 1,4,10,11,13,& 14 due Wed. All except #2 & 6 are due Thursday with a TEST on Monday.  We are taking notes on Charles Dickens's life and learning to distinguish traits, characteristics, and character as we study the play.  Readers' responses will be shared throughout the reading of the play.

Language Arts/Walters - We will be emphasizing "A Christmas Carol" all week in preparation for the IRT field trip next Wednesday.  Students were given the vocabulary/spelling/parts of speech word list today (do 1,4,10,11,13,14)- TEST on MONDAY. Students will take notes at the beginning of each period, sing the Wassailing song, and review the time period of Victorian London.

Language Arts/Walters - Today was library day - we began a new Passport program to help students navigate the IMC.  In class we listened to Vincent Price recite "The Raven" and when sufficiently scared, we began writing a scary story (or seasonal harvest or fall story).  This is due Monday when we will combine sentences after studying compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences.

Thursday, September 10,2009  Tomorrow is Patriot's Day - students and staff are asked to wear red, white, and blue if possible to express our respect for September 11th.

                              Block #2 - Find and write 3 similes from Welcome Home, Jellybean; an additional 2 will give extra credit.  Be sure they compare 2 unrelated objects.

                                    Today most finished typing letters begun before NWEA testing started. Student know how to access H-drive from home to finish.  Must email it to me or save to a jump drive or disc - this WILL NOT SAVE FROM HOME to H-drive.

                                      Block #2 Write a proposal for the final project on Welcome Home, Jellybean. Ideas given on hand-out.  Proposal is due tomorrow or at the beginning of period/block #1 on Friday. Time given in class to discuss.
