We had another great week of learning.  Everyone is doing so well on their phonics and blends. We did a Chemistry experiment involving pennies.  Hunter was our Star Student.  Hunter's dad played a really fun Lego game with the class.   Great job Hunter!   Jacob took Roo home and did an excellent job of reading and taking care of her and her baby.  Great job Jacob!

Thank you Dads for coming to our Donuts with Dads.  The kids were so excited you were coming.  It was all they talked about all week.

Listed below is what we will be studing for the week of:

Monday, Feb. 6th - Friday, Feb. 10th

Titus will be our Star Student this week.    We will continue introducing our "Little Books."   Please make sure to read your child's book with them as they bring them home.  Please sign up and pay for your child's Happy Meal by Wednesday morning.

 A Message from Roo:

Hi, my name is Roo.  My baby and I are going to stay with your family for the week.  Please have your mom or dad read us lots of books, and write the names of the books on my map.  Return me and the map to school on Friday morning.  When I come home with you, please leave me and my baby at your home.  We are very shy.  We do not like to go to the store, the park, ballgames, church, other friends houses, etc.   If we were left behind somewhere Miss Laura would be very sad.  We would love to sleep with you and see all your toys.   Please also protect us from your pets.

 JACKETS

Our Classroom stays pretty cool.  The majority of the students need a light jacket or sweater indoors if they are not wearing long sleeves and long pants/tights.  Please leave one in your child's backpack for them to use if needed.

**Now that the weather is cooler, please send a coat for recess.

Star Student of the Week !

This next semester your child will share how special and unique they are in various and different ways.  You will not have to do a picture poster board; instead we will focus on  talking about ourselves and building self confidence.  Please plan to bring a snack for the class each day.

As Star Student of the  Week your child can share with the class what makes them special.        Each child can come up with ideas of what they would like to bring and show to the class or offer to the class.  Please schedule your activity with me and they need to be no more than 15 minutes in length.

Examples:

  • Bring a parent/grandparent to class to talk about what they do for a living.
  • Bring a family pet to class to talk about how it is special in your life.
  • Child’s parent/grandparent can volunteer to come to class to read the child’s favorite story.
  • Child can bring a special show and tell item that might not fit in their backpack. (Parent is responsible for transporting it in and out of the building)
  • Share with the class the activities outside of school your child participates in and given and example of what you do.  (Possibly wear the soccer uniform to school or dance outfit)

Memory Verse Due - Fri. Feb. 10TH

"We love Him because He first loved us."  1 John 4:19

Since our class is Pre-K, we will be working all year on preparing for Kindergarten.  We will work on being self-sufficient, raising our hands, staying in our seats when asked, completing seat work, not distracting others and following direct instructions.  These are very important concepts to learn so that Kindergarten will be a much smoother transition.

Drop off

My classroom opens at 8:35 a.m.

We begin learning at 8:45 a.m.

Please have your child place their folder in the box on the table.

Please sign your child in and fill out the form.

Please say your goodbyes in the hall and let your child enter the class on their own.

(After the first few days your child will know what their routine will be and I will be there to help them.)

Pick up

Class dismisses at 1:00 p.m.   Children not picked up by 1:05 will be taken to the school office to wait for their parents and a fee may be charged.

Once the door is open, I will call the children to the door one by one to dismiss to parents waiting in the hall.

** Folders **

Every day I will send home a yellow folder with your child. Their behavior chart will be in the folder along with any paper/art work we do (please remove any papers/art work). Please initial the behavior chart and return the folder the next school day. There will be a basket on the sign-in table for your child's folder. Please have your child place the folder in the basket before they enter the classroom.

** E-mail **

Click on the link at the top of this page and it will guide you through.

** Computer Lab **

We will:

Learn parts of the computer

Develop mouse skills (fine motor)

Develop hand/eye coordination

Introduce thinking games

*Memory Games

*Deductive Reasoning Games

*Patterning (promotes success in
math)

** Snacks **

A small snack is provided every day about an hour after school starts. The school provides the snack. If you want to send a special snack for everyone, that is fine and encouraged, just please let me know ahead of time.

** Lunches **

Please pack a lunch for your child. We do not have access to a refrigerator or microwave so please pack accordingly.

Please make sure to pack utensils, cut up items that are too big, and "pre-tear" the tops of cheese sticks.

Our goal is to have your child able to open all their lunch items unassisted by the holiday break.

** Back Packs **

Please send a back-pack for your child with a complete change of clothes in it. I realize everyone is potty trained at this age, but accidents do happen, sudden illnesses can occur or a juice box may attack!  Please label each one of your child's items.

** Illnesses **

Please remember Lakeland's policy on illnesses.  If your child has had a fever within 24 hours of the next start of the school day, please keep them at home.  This means completely fever free.  Not fever free if taking Tylenol or Advil.  During this time of the year there are a lot of viruses going around and we want to keep everyone well.  The same 24 hours rule applies to vomiting and diarrhea.

** Attire **

The preschool students are not required to wear the LCA uniform. Please send your child to school in comfortable clothes and shoes. Closed toed shoes are best since our playground is covered with wood chips. We will be doing art projects and we will do our best to protect clothes, but as we all know kids are kids and stains happen.

Please purchase a LCA t-shirt from Parker Uniform (link below). It is navy blue and has the LCA crest on it. This shirt is required wear on all field trips.

** Show and Tell **

We have show and tell every Friday.  This is one of my favorite activities!  Please have your child bring ONE item from home that can fit in their back-pack to tell about.  Please do not send any kind of play weapon or scary toy.

** Chapel **

Chapel is designed to be a lot like church so kids need to be on their best behavior. Please try to be on time on Wednesdays. If we have already left for chapel you will need to bring your child up to the second floor to join their class. You are invited to join us for Chapel at any time, however, you will not be able to sit with your child. Parents stand or sit in the back so that our kids can have room to participate.
