Dates to Remember: 

*Silly Snack ~ Wednesday, May 9th we will be eating a silly snack.  Each child may bring in 1 cup of their favorite dried snack and we will mix it together for a silly snack.  Ex.'s: goldfish, choc. chips, pretzels, teddy grahams & etc. 

*Preschool End of Year Program ~ The LCA Preschool Year End Program will be Friday, May 11th at 12:00pm in the House of Prayer.  Parents will go directly to the House of Prayer to get a seat and the students will walk in by class.  After the program, the students will return to our room with me to be dismissed to their parents or regular pick-up person.  

*Tents and Teddy Bears ~ Monday, May 14th students may bring a teddy bear.   

*Phonics Test ~ Our Final Phonics Test will be on Wednesday, May 16th and will cover the blends/words.  me. zi, fog, lad, note 

*End of the Year Party ~ Wednesday, May 23rd we will be having our End of the Year Party.  We will be ordering pizza and having ice cream sundaes.  Yummy!!!!  A sign up sheet will be on the table and a bag to put money for pizza.  Party will start 11:40am.  Parents are welcome to come join us for the fun.  Please remember no siblings. 

*Last Day of School ~ Friday, May 25th will be our last day of school.

*Star Student ~ This semester your child will share how special and unique they are in various and different ways.  you will not have to do a picture poster board; instead we will focus on talking about ourselves and building self confidence.  Please plan to bring a snack for the class each day.

As Star Student of the Week your child can share with the class what makes them special.  Each child can come up with ideas of what they would like to bring and show to the class or offer to the class.  Please schedule your activity with me and they need to be no more than 15 minutes in length. 

Examples:

*Bring a parent/grandparent to class to talk about what they do for a living.

*Bring a family pet to class to talk about how it is special in your life.

*Child's parent/grandparent can volunteer to come to class and read the child's favorite story.

*Child can bring a special show and tell item.

*Share with the class the activities outside of school your child participates in and given and example of what you do.

 Specials: 

*Chapel ~ Chapel will be at 9:00 am on Wednesdays in Children’s Theater.  Chapel is designed to be a lot like church so kids need to be on their best behavior.  Please try to be on time on Wednesdays.  If we have already left for chapel you will need to bring your child up to the second floor to join their class.  You are invited to join us for Chapel at any time, however, you will not be able to sit with your child.  Parents stand or sit in the back so that our kids can have room to participate.

*Storybook Theater ~ Storybook Theater is where Mrs. Tena makes books come to life with the help of the World Wide Web.  Mrs. Tena will read a book that goes along with the Bible Lesson we are going over in our classroom or with a particular theme or letter that we are working on.  It is a lot of fun and the children really enjoy it.

*Library ~ We will be going to the LCA Library once a week.  Each child will be allowed to checkout one book.  These books will remain in the classroom for everyone to share.  These books will not be taken home.

*Computer Lab ~ We will be going to Computer Lab twice a week.  We will:  Learn the parts of the computer, Develop mouse skills (fine motor), Develop hand/eye coordination, Introduce thinking games, Memory Games, Deductive Reasoning Games, Patterning (promotes success in math).  The children have a lot of fun and don’t even realize they are learning.  Each child has their own computer and headphones so that they can concentrate on their task at hand.
