February 13-17

PHONICS: mark vowels and underline blends, special sounds: st, pl, fr, tr, circle special sounds in words, continue in reading groups.

NUMBERS:continue with finding missing addend (as in 3+__= 4, etc. This is a difficult concept for many kindergarten students. Your practice and reinforcement of this skill at home will be very helpful to your child), number words five and six, count by 5s.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Children of the World, China and Japan.  During this unit, the students will learn about continents and countries

BIBLE:  "The Shepherds and the Wise Men."  Wise men brought gifts to the Christ child.  The best gifts are what we can do to show love for God and others.

BIBLE MEMORY: This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Luke 2:12.

SPELLING:  say, by, fan, dip, two, so, truck, stay, play, go. Spelling test is Friday, February 17.

SNACKS: Camille will provide snacks the week of February 13-17.

We thank Bella Kate for the snacks this past week.

We will celebrate our 100th Day of School Tuesday, February 14.  We will be doing various activities involving the number 100 that day. Please send your child's bag of 100 items to school Monday, February 13.

Our class "Jesus Loves Me" party will be Tuesday, February 14.  Please send a decorated Valentine box/bag to school that day for your child's collection of valentines from friends.

The students will exchange valentines Tuesday, February 14. The list of student names is: Adrienne, Austin C., Austin F., Bella Kate, Camille, Colby, Gabriel, Hallie, Hope, Jauliana, Leyton, Macie, Madison, Nathan, Samuel, and Savannah.  Please send your child's valentines Tuesday, February 14.

The kindergarten students will be doing Spelling the second semester. Tests will be graded and recorded for report cards.  A list of spelling words will be posted on Schoolnotes each week in addition to a list going home each Friday for the next week's test.  We will do some practicing for the test in class, but the bulk of the practice will come from home.  Please work with your child each week with his/her spelling words.  Spelling tests will be each Friday.

Our class eats lunch at 12:30 each day.  Parents are always welcome to have lunch with their child.  When parents eat with their child, they may sit at one of the "family tables."
