Lakeland Christian Academy Opens New High School for 2010-2011 School Year!

We will have a college preparatory curriculum that will offer dual high school/college credit courses, along with expanded athletic and fine art opportunities.  Of course, we will continue to provide domestic travel experiences.  The goal is to expand to international travel for our secondary students.  Tell your friends!

Reenrollment Begins for the 2010-2011 School Year!

Reenrollment forms for the 2010-2011 school have gone home in your student’s backpack.  As always, we guarantee reenrollment for our current eligible students and their siblings if the enrollment application and fee are returned by Friday, January 29, 2010.  To encourage families to register early, LCA elementary and secondary schools will offer the discount enrollment fee of $250 through the month of January.

Snack Helper:  Ashlyn(no snack on Friday due to feast)

PHONICS Review short vowel sounds, introduce Yy and Pp, and combine those sounds with the vowels to learn blends.  The students will also learn that the letters ck make the k sound.

NUMBERS Review value of penny, recognize nickel, write 10, work with clocks and telling time to the hour, 40 Family and 50 Family, and adding on 1.

 
SOCIAL STUDIES "America: Our Great Country" and Blessed by God, Pilgrims and Indians.

* some of you have said that your student will not be at school on Friday so plan on reciting our memory verse on Thursday.

Report cards go home on Thursday, November 19.  Please remove the contents and return the signed envelope.

Just a reminder...Classes start @8:45am. Because of all the preschool "traffic" in the hall, I will be closing the door to our room at this time in order to start our day of learning. Our classroom door will open @8:35am. Thanks!

"Show & Tell" this week...  The theme will be the letters learned in phonics for the week.  For Tuesday, Dayton, Brynley, Cameron, Meredith, Amelia, Julianna, and Chris will bring an item beginning with Yy.  Elise, McKenna, Josephene, Jonathan, Ashlyn, Lainey and Matthew will bring an item beginning with Pp on Thursday.  "Show & Tell" will be each week until we have gone through the consonants.  If your child forgets their show and tell for the week they will have another chance the following week with the next letter.

Our library day is Thursday.

Don't forget...Friday is always early release day at 12:00! : )

Don’t forget!  Friday, November 20 is the LCA Thanksgiving Family Feast.  Please return the order form with payment or with “not attending” marked on it for us to get a head count.  Tickets in an envelope will come home in one of your students’ backpack.

Friday, November 20, will be an early release day.  School will be dismissed at 12:00.  There will be a Thanksgiving feast for students, and parents if they wish to attend @ 10:20am.  Parents should plan on picking up their child from our room at this time and taking them to the gym for the feast.  The cost is $5 per person planning on eating a meal.  Students may leave after the feast(you are not obligated to stay until 12:00) or if you do not plan on attending the feast you may take your child at 10:20 instead of waiting until noon pickup.  Please let me know if you plan on attending so I can plan accordingly.
